Wearing glasses on rides?

I normally wear glasses. I have contacts but if I wore them I would need to carry cheaters(and possibly sunglasses) around with me. Will my glasses go flying off on rides such as ToT, 7DMT, EE, RnRC, SM?

I've worn glasses on every ride for decades and have never had a problem. As long as they are properly fitted, you should have no problem. If you are still feeling unsure, you could wear a sports strap, but its really not necessary.

I agree with the others but want to say that the one thing I would not do is remove the glasses from any attraction if you cannot see without them. Half the fun on Disney attractions is the stuff all around you. So, take a strap, use it and then sit back and relax. But, if I can wear simple store bought sunglasses (non prescription) on Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids on multiple occasions and still have those glasses, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I have a sports strap, but at WDW, I find I pretty much only use it for Rock'n Roller Coaster. Everything is tame enough that I don't even worry about it. I used to use it on Space Mountain too, but I forgot to use it once and didn't even notice until after. I'll use it on any higher-tier coaster, but it's more of a peace of mind issue than a true need. They won't fly off.

I purchased a strap just for my trips to WDW. I'm pretty sure I would have been fine without it, but wearing one made me feel much more relaxed. If you are nervous, buy a strap. I've seen them at the dollar store, so it is not a huge investment.

I've worn my glasses on all these rides and I still have them. That being said, the only that I felt a little uncomfortable was RnRC...however, that is probably more with how the harness fit me. My head kept banging into the harness and one time it hit right where the earpiece was located, which caused the glasses to skew. So that's the only ride where I would probably take my glasses off in the future.

I'd only take mine off on RnRC, just for peace of mind. Plus, I don't want to be blind for the rest of the holiday! However, I haven't had any issues on any other ride.

if they are properly fitted they shouldn't.
i wear my glasses on all the rides including the thrill rides with the exception of RNRC.
i feel confident that they would not fall off on that but with the way your head sometimes hits the side of the shoulder restraint i'm afraid the legs of my frames may get out of whack.

if you want to wear your glasses but are concerned that they are too loose then i'd go to a glasses store or even a walmart vision center and pick up a security strap.
they are only like $5.

Yup.....completely agree. My entire family has had to wear glasses on the rides. We always put a strap on them though. It just made us more relaxed. Now, dd wears contacts and regular sunglasses, dh and I each wear readers and sunglasses thanks to cataract surgery! When wearing sunglasses in the parks, we just remove them on rides. Especially if its inside. But I still like a strap on mine.

Well for me I usually take my glasses off for rnrc and Everest, never trusted my glasses lmao. However I will say tht if you decide to use the pouch in front of your seat, they are really good pouches

My husband and daughter wear glasses on all rides at WDW.

My husband only takes his glasses off for Rock N Rollercoaster but that's more for my peace of mind than his. The only time we've had problems were when his glasses suddenly and mysteriously fell apart in the parking lot of the Animal Kingdom Lodge... amazingly I managed to find the screws on the ground and we were able to put them back together!

Like other posters, I only take my glasses off for RnR - I have a glasses case and just slip it into my bag. All the other rides are fine for them.

I've never taken mine off for RnRC. I was nervous about it for the first couple of times but as long as they fit reasonably well around the ears and are not loose, you should be fine. I still bring a second pair with me on vacation as well as backup contacts just in case but I've never had a problem on any of the rides. The G forces should be high enough, especially when going upside down, on RnRC that you shouldn't lose them.

I wiped out on a jetski at Castaway Cay and lost the clip-on sunglasses but the glasses themselves didn't come off. My head went underwater and they were still on when I resurfaced. If that couldn't make them come off, it's unlikely that any ride at WDW will make it happen. I had a sports strap but completely forgot to put it on so didn't even need that.

The only ride that I had any even slight feeling that there might be a problem was in the front seat of Test Track during the outside side. It felt like the wind hitting my face was lifting my glasses up. I just put my hand up and held them in place. In all fairness, they never really ever left my face, I just felt that they were being lifted in a very minor way.

I have ridden all the other rides with my glasses without any problem. I was thinking that the next trip I would use my contacts but not because of that. I just think I would enjoy the 3D stuff a little more. It is handy to use my glasses because they darken outside and lighten up inside and save me from having to carry sunglasses and/or reading glasses.
