I'm brandy new to the message boards. My DH and I and our DD and our good friends are going to WDW in April and my DH good friend is going next week. He was telling him that last year his 3 1/2 dd loved Cinderella so much that she wore a Cinderella costume all day at Magic Kingdom. He said that everywhere they went all the Cast Members would bow to her and call her "Princess". He said they were in a store and his daughter was basically browsing in "circles" and every time she crossed the path of a gentleman cast member, he would stop talking to the customer he was helping and bow to his dd and call her "Princess".
My question is, does this happen all the time? Is it for any costume? Because if this is true, I'm wearing a tinkerbell costume!!!

I love to see the little girls in the princess costumes. They are so adorable! I think it's a bit different for adults though, and I don't know if they will allow you in. I mean, they wouldn't want you to be confused with one of the actual characters. However, you can wear a costume during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP)!

I will find out, the girls are planning on wearing Cinderella, sleeping beauty and snow white. We will have luggage just for the princess clothes.

Welcome to the DIS.

Kids wearing Disney character costumes are pretty common in the parks, and they do often get extra attention from CMs and sometimes other guests. Adults wearing costumes is usually not allowed because it could confuse guests who might think they are real characters. Adults wearing costumes is permited at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, an after-hours ticketed event at the Magic Kingdom. It takes place on select nights in October.

It's funny, when we were last there in September I said to my sister at one point that I couldn't believe how many CMs were calling us princess. She took note of it and by the end of the trip it was a big joke with us. "Watch your step princess." "Good morning, princess." "Have a magical day, princess." It was pretty amusing.

I've been to MNSSHP and have seen plenty of adults in costume. As far as I know, they are not prohibited from wearing them during that event. I have never seen anyone wear them at any other time.....

I've had friends wear "stealth costumes" into the park. Usually a group of fans will go to Disneyland on a certain day, have a theme and see if they can get into the park.

The best one was this: they were all wearing the old mouse ears (like from 10-20 years ago) - white crew sweaters with their names in black lettering, grey pants or grey skirts (depending on their sex), white bobby socks, grey saddle shoes. They were going as old time Mouseketeers in black and white. It was subtle. Cast members got it and went nuts, took pictures, etc but it wasn't the same as dressing as Snow White.

I have seen some people putting on scrubs while riding Splash Mountain or reading newspapers while smoking pipes, etc. for the picture at the top of the flume ride. What they do isn't obscene so it is not deleted. It is just quirky and fun.

I'm quoting my DD:

"It happened when I went as Sleeping Beauty!" princess: :wizard:

Every time DD passed by a CM, she was greeted "Hello, Princess" and a few of the Gentlemen asked her to make them into a Prince by waving her wand at them. One even jokingly asked her why she was awake- if she was Sleeping Beauty, shouldn't she be asleep? :teeth:

Yes, children dress as characters, and they may get some cute attention. I wouldn't get their hopes up though, because then they could be disappointed that not everyone bows down to them, so to speak...

I've read the policy somewhere that adults are not allowed to enter Disney parks dressed 'in costume' - it was on some literature we got at check-in once, but it wasn't on a park map. I'll try to dig it up while I'm cleaning house today!

We went in October (4 adults), and though we weren't in costume, we all wore the same Red 'Incredibles' T-shirt (we bought it at the local Disney Store) and got plenty of attention- from Cast Members, other park-goers, and plenty of other adults asking where they could buy the tshirt!

We were called the Incredibles by everyone that day!

(Actually, I am wearing the tshirt right now! hee hee!)

I was called "Princess" throughout our trip last year, and I wasn't in costume. I'm also not a child. I guess I'm just cute :cutie:

DD's wear costume's to MK and to character dinner's but are usually referred to as "Princess" wherever we are on Disney property!

I've been reading about the costume - but most of these responses are for girls. How about boys. Do they get dressed up too??? by boys 4 and 3 were Pirate's (from disney's website - whatever it's name is these days.) this past halloween. I was thinking they could wear them at MK.
