Okay my dd9 really needs pants, but the problem is her size. She is not fat, but she has a large butt, thighs and hips for a girl here age. This has been an issue for the last couple of years since she seems to have blossemed in ways I don't particularly like. :rotfl2:
So what brands or stores sell pants for kids in 8/9 sizes that aren't so darn skinny?

btw I know I typed wear instead of where... I do that a lot

Have you tried Penny's? Or Lands End? Gap or Old Navy? I know in boys sizes they have husky not sure about girls. I realize she isn't husky but that is just what they call it:rotfl:
My DS has stubby legs so we usually need to get him husky in a smaller size so he doesn't end up with holes in the bottom of his pants.

Have you tried Gymboree? I think their stuff runs bigger/roomier than other brands.

Gymboree carries a plus size now that is a little roomier than the regular sizes. You might try that.

Limited Too used to make 1/2 sizes (just a little bigger in the waist/butt) but I'm not sure if they still do.

What about yoga pants or leggings? Or anything stretchy.

HTH

I was just thinking about this exact same thing. I don't understand why there are size 5/6; 7/8; and then 10/12. What happened to 9 and 11? My DD would be a perfect size 9 if such a thing existed! Good luck finding pants to fit your daughter.

I buy my daughter plus size at penneys or sears. they run in half sizes and they fit well.

Try JC Penneys.

I'm going to have the same problem with DD (6). She's naturally built like that. She's not fat or skinny but in the middle, a little on the shorter side, with thicker thighs & butt. I finaly found pants that fit her perfectly at Penneys. She is wearing a size 6x slim...which to me makes no sense, but whatever...they fit.

Good luck!

Try 10 plus. My dd is 8 and wears 10 1/2 in pants. Gap, JC Penneys, Sears, TCP online, Crazy 8 online, & LMT2 are some places to try.

Another vote for Lands End!!!

Our HS Marching band actually uses Lands End for ordering all of our 'Summer'/casual uniform pants, because of the wide range of customized fits available. They make pants for every shape and size--slim, regular, 'husky', girls, misses, womens, etc. and all with custom hemming to length. :goodvibes

My DD has the exact same problem. The Children's Place, Gymboree, and Limited Too have half sizes that are just a bit roomier and TCP and Gymbo have adjustable waist too. I cant' recall if Limited Too has adjustable waist in theirs and I'm too lazy to go check - but they fit her great.

My DD9 has the same shape going on (both of my daughters have the butt going on!) and the pants I found that fit her the BEST are the Target Circo plus jeans but they only have them in the stores occasionally. In August they had them on clearance for $5 and since I didn't have her with me and I wasn't sure they would fit, I only bought 2. :scared1: Sooooo kicking myself for that now!! One is size 10 1/2 and one is 12 1/2 and they both fit exactly the same and have adjustable waists. Haven't checked online tho, hope that helps!

the TCP "plus" jeans. Just has an extra inch or two around the middle. :) I think you can only get them online. They are adjustable too. My DD just outgrew TCP and we are both having a hard time. She loved their styles, and I loved their prices!

Thanks for all the relpies, I'll try some of these when we go shopping next month. (wish I had the money now, cause her pants look rediculous right now)
I used to love Children's place, but after getting winter coats which had tears and broken zippers within a month I got turned off. I love Gymboree, but ours seems small and has mostly sizes 6 and under, and I'm scared of buying cloths online. It always turns out bad! I am not looking foward to shopping with her but maybe your suggestions will help.

Is your daughter "thicker" or "curvier"? I know those are such technical terms. :lmao: My oldest daughter was curvier at that age, with a fairly flat bottom and not much of a tummy, but bigger hips, and we had to start shopping junior sizes at Aeropostale in the jeans. The kids size that fit her was ridiculously long, the plus sizes in most jeans were way too big in the thighs and butt, but I could buy her a 0 short at Aeropostale and they fit nicely. I had to hem a couple of pair but her shape (I know what you mean about the blossoming.:scared1: )made them work better. Limited Too half sizes are a little less roomy than some, so she can wear those too although still a little saggy in the rear.

Have you considered looking in the juniors department? The pants there might have more space in the hips/butt area.

If not, try JCPenney for the half sizes (like 'husky' for boys, they are just a wee bit bigger). Or maybe it might be worth trying the boys department?

I second the vote for Lands End! Don't worry about bying online with them. They have an agreement with Sears. If you get something that does not fit or you don't like, you can simply walk into your local Sears store and return it. They will credit your card back right at the register.

They list measurements for each size - slim, regular, plus, so you can order based on her real size. Order a few different sizes and keep what fits. Take what doesn't fit back to Sears.

Also, be sure to check out he Overstocks section on the Lands End site. I've found some great deals there.
