Weaning tip that worked for me!

Aw, man. That was the BEST part of having a nursing baby who wasn't eating solids yet! Just grab a diaper and some wipes and you're set to go. So easy . . . I miss that!

Camping Griswalds - Nursing at Disney is great. We've literally "nursed around the world" on all three trips our little guy has been on - at 12 months, 20 months, and 26 months. We've never gotten so much as a second glance, even though he's an older nursling. And, we've nursed on pretty much every ride, in every show, on every park bench, on all the boats and monorails, sitting on the curb waiting for the parade, in restaurants - you get the picture. You won't be out of place at all. I can say that, even with all that Disney nursing, I've never seen the inside of a nursing room - or even been in the Baby Care centers at all! I just never felt like making the long hike back there.

I guess to better asnwer that I need to know what trails and tribuations are (later weaning, or difficulties with new born nursing.)

The begining was a rough start for me. Sore nipples, mastitus, bleeding nipples. Hoping the second time it comes a little easier to me. Especailly since I'll only be taking about a 4month break!

It should be easier, especailly since you had such a short time in between. Milk doesn't dry up that fast!

Sore or cracked nipples should be better, mastitus may or many not, but the good news is you know know what to look for so IF it happens you will cacth it must faster and have faster recovery. (not everyone gets it so chances are you won't the 2nd time). Engrougment is better, your body does regluate much eaiser the 2nd time.

It will be a little sore at 1st, but that should be it.

We had a case of thursh around here and it took me a while to figure it out because I was used to it hurting. Once we did we got it taken care of right away.

So yes, the adjustment should be better on your part. Not as sure about your little baby. Everyone is different. My 1st didn't like to eat as much. My 2nd never turned a nipple away. She would eat when ever offered.

Sorry I haven't stopped in on the thread. I've used my new found freedom to learn Movie maker!

My dd was 2 yrs 3 mos and she nursed like she was brand new most days. I was ready to have my body back! She has been awesome. We've been hugging and playing and laughing. Of course I have my moments when I miss the sweetness of our nursing time and yes I have cried but thankfully she hasn't. She has moved on. Yesterday for the first time, we went to the movies and she didn't nurse. We saw Chicken Little 3-D and it was great. Nursing a toddler in public can be tricky. I can't wait for her to have an over night with her grand mother like her older sisters.

She still sleeps in bed with me. She kicked DH out so I can't wait for her to sleep maybe with her older sisters, possibly even by her self. She's been through a lot recently. She's also potty training and doing extremely well. I'm so proud of her.

I have some engorgement but it isn't at all painful unless I lay on my stomach, which isn't painful, just uncomfortable or if my DH hugs me to tight. Other than that it's nothing like it was with the twins whom I weaned the hard way at 1yr.
