Where to eat? Kona or O'hana: who has the best food and atmosphere?
We are willing to either a breakfast or dinner but don't know anything about it. So please help me decide, pick one and tell me why.
Thanks

My family chose Kona over Ohana because we didn't want another family style served meal, wanted to be able to take our time, and my kids don't even want to witness coconut races :lmao:

We chose dinner because it fit into our park plans better.

We love Kona for breakfast, it is a must do for every trip. I am a sucker for the pressed pot coffee and macadamia pineapple pancakes.

Did dinner at Kona in Oct and it was very good but we are really looking forward to Ohana for dinner, we leave in 81 days!

Where is Kona located in the bldg.? What good to eat or are we not going for the food?

O'hana has a character breakfast and a non character dinner. We avoid O'hana because of the character breakfast-we are adults.

We have eaten at Kona most mornings for the last few years and it has always been very good. Omelets and egg dishes are great. The pancakes are excellent, especially the macadamia nut ones. The breakfast is traditional faire with a Hawaiian accent-sausage, bacon, ham and breakfast potatoes are served with the dishes. The lunch menu is good too-burger, sandwiches, and bbq pulled pork.

We like Kona for breakfast because we can get in and out within 30-45 minutes. They move the tickets quickly and the food comes out fast. Great for wanting to get to the park.

Kona was our most disappointing meal of our last trip...we were completely underwhelmed by everything - food, service and (lack of) atmosphere. There was recently a poll of the most over-rated restaurant here on the DIS, and I recall Kona coming up quite often.

Edited to add: We were there for dinner not breakfast

I think it is so hard to compare the two!

I think Kona is delicious. The food was flavorful, different, and I really liked everything that everyone ordered. We went for dinner... but the menu has changed slightly since we've been. I remember loving the beef teriyaki and the coconut chicken and appetizers. The service was slow. There is no atmosphere.

'Ohana is how we start each trip. We go for dinner early, and then take our time, hang out & watch wishes from the beach at the Poly. I think 'Ohana has really good food, good atmosphere--it is a bit wild sometimes with the kids running everywhere and the hula lady singing... but we always have a good time.

so, after reading what I just wrote, I'd vote for 'Ohana for dinner. Have fun!

I think you asked where Kona was in the building. It is located next to 'Ohana on the 2nd floor.

I read an article on "most overrated" Disney restaurants, and Ohana topped the list. I haven't eaten there, but did eat at Kona (walk-in, no ADR, and were amazed we got seated as it was the weekend before Christmas), and we loved it. I know a previous poster had a bad dinner experience there, but ours was so good, I am going to eat there again and make an ADR to be sure I do. Since I've only eaten there once, it's hard to say if my experience was a rarity for Kona. If you've got kids, Ohana might be a good choice for the character breakfast, but we walked by it a few times and it was always pretty noisy, so if you don't have kids, it might be a bit loud. Just my two cents!
