There is going to be a Figment Event at Epcot on Saturday September 9th, which is in the middle of the Pin Event.

Registration will be $350. Each person will receive a 8-3/4 inch high WDCC Statue of Dreamfinder holding Figment (LE 1000) and a 4" Jumbo pin (LE 350), as well the opportunity to purchase another statue for $199.

I called Event Services management to ask about the date conflict. I was told that on Saturday at the Pin Event the schedule would be about the same as on Friday, and the Auction will be from 4:00 to 6:00. The Figment Event will have Lunch and private signing from Noon to 3:00, and then a dessert party from 7:00 to 8:00, so it should not really interfere with the pin event.

More when further bulletins are issued. :figment: :figment: :figment: :figment:

I just saw this on DisneyGallery! Mary & I were trying to decide whether to go (which of course I will).

Whose bright idea was it to have this on the same day as the pin event??!! So much for having a full day of pin trading!

Cyn

Disney cannot mess up things more than last year .. yes they can .. this is ridiculous... basically they double charge Figment collectors , because they know the figment lovers will try to get the event framed set plus the figment event merchandise.. so lucky we are we can pay Disney park entrance, pin event entrance and figment event entrance .. all on one day ... will be quite empty at the pin event on saturday around noon .. .... NOT ...
Disney please change the date to thursday ..... and you can have my money !!

Let's all write them a nice letter to let them know what we think about this plan :

I agree...the Figment Event should have been for Thursday. I would go if it was on Thursday, but I'm not going to spend that kind of money to go on Saturday. I'm not going to waste my whole day running back and forth from one event to the other with all my pins, especially since it's usually in the 90s at that time in Sept. and really humid.

Not only do we miss out on 1 event, now we miss 2 of them - on the same day!!! :confused3 Can someone please send along the event service email and/or phone number so i can order or try to order the Figment /Dreamfinder figurine? Thanks. Would love to get it for Roger Caroline

We at FriendsofFigment.org are in contact with high-level people at SPecial Events and also WDCC (working from both directions) to see about getting the Figment event moved. It is more likely we can get it moved to Sunday rather than Thursday. That would not be too bad as Public Day for the pin event will start at 11:00.

Also, we were very surprised, because about six months ago WDCC told us that it would probably take about 18 months before the Dreamfinder and Figment statue would come out, so we really did not expect it to be available this soon.

And here I was breathing a sigh of relief that there was only two Figment pins at the event and I wouldn't spend a bundle. $350!!!! Last year's Figment event Carol and I went but the fee was only $150 per person. $700 for 2???? I guess I'll go but Carol won't. I'll drop by, pick up my merchandise and not do the lunch/dessert thing. I'm playing park tour guide.

Absurd planning. Stupid, in fact.
Please let us know if you are successful in getting this moved to Sunday.

Event registration has been changed to

Wednesday June 21st 11am PT / 2pm ET

Figment Event

Hopefully we'll know if the day is going to be changed before then.

Event Services is rethinking both date, time and location. Decisions will be made early next week. One of the people involved, and the supervisor, are both on vacation and will be back Monday.

I'm amazed you people haven't said much about the outrageous price of $350.00! You pay $350 and get a figurine that costs 100% more than last year at $200.00, a pin that may be worth $50 on a good day, and a lunch & dessert and stupid seminar for $100.00! Most of my friends brought that last point to my consciousness and think about it this way...You get a figurine that is in my opinion a high LE size of 1000 pieces, you pay twice as much at $200.00, and get a pin that is worth about $35 to $50, so you are going to pay $100 to eat a lunch and dessert?!!! Not me! I called and voiced my feelings telling them to lower the LE size to 500, and that the price was too high at $350.00. I ate at Club 33 in Disneyland and paid $95.00 for brunch before and it was great food and atmosphere, but when all was said and done, it wasn't worth $95.00 to me. I strongly doubt that anything we'd get for this would come close to Club 33 fare. So, I'd like to ideally see the Edition size dropped to an LE of 500, the price dropped to $99.00 for the figure, get the pin, a lunch and the price for the total event to be $150.00! I just can't see paying double the money for an LE 1000 and the extra $100 for a lunch. Ken

I agree with you. The price of the event is high and the edition size should be lower.

Comparing the Figment Figure from last year to this years piece from a WDCC collector's view.

Figment 2005
Size 5½"
Figures 1
Limited Size 500
Individually numbered NO
Cost $99

Figment and Dreamfinder 2006
Size 8 3/8"
Figures 2
Limited Size 1000
Individually numbered YES
Cost $199

That there are 2 figures instead of 1 raises the price of the sculpture, add in the size (height) and it will individually numbered. WDCC doesn't make too many individually numbered pieces any more.

The price of $199 for the Figment and Dreamfinder sculpture is in line with other similar WDCC figures. I doubt that they would lower that price.

Not trying to start an argument here.......just giving my opinion as a WDCC collector.

As far as the rest of the event.......ought to be something grand for $150.
I'm thinking that should be cut in half to $75.

Yeah right!!! :sad2:

Last year the edition size was 500. There were 250 people at the event. 450 were sold at the event, and only 50 went to Art of Disney at Epcot. They had 70 people in line to purchase.

We were actually hoping for an open edition, or if limited at 1,500. With an edition size of 1,000 and 350 people attending that means about 400 will be available for public sale after the event.

The only people who will be hurt on this are those who don't care about Dreamfinder and Figment but want to make money on eBay.

Also, I am working on the NFFC convention to be held at WDW and the food prices are not out of line for the menu prices charged to conventions and groups, not only by Disney but by convention hotels.

I was speaking with Event Services today. The two people who were on vacation last week are both back, and they are critical to the event. There have been questions and comments from many people, including WDCC, and Event Services realizes that the schedule as set up (and some other things) was not a good idea. At the time I last talked (about 4:15 today) I was told that very high level management were reviewing the options and the Guests would have a better experience due to the changes being made. Because of this, Friday (6/23) is now the earliest that registration can be held.

Special Events updated the web pages today for the Figment Event.

The date has been changed to Thursday September 7th and it's a breakfast instead of lunch.

The cost has been lowered to $260 and the seminar and the dessert reception are kapooey. :yay:

Much better!!! Glad they listened. :woohoo:

Thanks Kathie for the update!!

A first Disney listening to us
