OMG! We just finished booking our trip for August and just paid for our non-refundable airfare yesterday and today my DH won a trip to WDW!

A local radio station was sponsoring it and I entered every day for the past week. Today I almost forgot about it and entered about 4:00. At 5:00 they call the winner. I almost passed out when I saw the radio station's name on my caller ID.

We won a 3 night 4 day trip to a deluxe resort and it includes airfare, park hopper pass, and a $250 dining card.

I wish I could figure out some way to combine it or replace the trip we booked with it. It wouldn't be a problem to cancel the room, but I can't get the airfare back.

My DS has no problems with us going twice. It's just hard trying to figure out when we can go.

I still can't believe we won!

Wow! Congratulations :yay: I am trying to do the same thing on our local radio station website. I enter every day :thumbsup2 Enjoy your 2 trips!!

Wow, congratulations! That sounds great! I wish I won a trip, I'd just live going 2 times in one year.

Thanks. It's funny, we haven't had a "good" vacation in 10 years and now I have to plan for 2 this year. I'm still in shock.

:thumbsup2 YES YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO 2 TIMES

IF YOU CAN :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1: :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1: :thumbsup2

GOD BLESS

MARY and DS;)

My mom won a trip when I was 11. We stayed for 4 nights in the old treehouses. That was my first trip to WDW and it was the start of my obsession! Congratulations and I hope you get the details all worked out.

That is great! But "non-refundable" airfare is usually not completely non-refundable...you can usually cancel your trip and use that money on another future trip with a penalty - I think it's $100 per ticket unless it has changed. I'd call the airline right away to find out what your options are. That way (if you wanted to) you could go someplace else (usually within a year).

Or, you could go to WDW twice! Nothing wrong with that!

Congratulations! pixiedust:

Yeah, I read that on the airlines website. I still don't know what we're going to do. We have to find out all the details of the trip on Monday. We might cancel and get the credit for another trip, but we really don't have anyplace else that we'd want to go except Disney. I just wish I waited another day to book the flight and then I'd have no problem, not that it's a big problem. LOL

Thanks everybody!

Is it within 24 hours of you booking your flight? You many still be able to get the money back, check out their 24 hour rule..
CONGRATS! I won a trip last year and it was fantastic!

The other thing you can do is book your free trip right on the tail end of your already booked trip. so you use your air tickets for the way down and theirs on the way home, and stay for a LONG time at Disney!!! Would you be able to take that long off of work?

Congratulations! If I were ever lucky enough to win a trip I would just add days to the free trip if possible, since they are usually 4 or 5 nights. I guess since you booked airfare you might be going to Disney twice!;)

Yippee for you and your family!!!

Where are you going to stay? Do you pick the deluxe or does the radio station?

How exciting!!!

We can't add it on because our trip that was booked because DH's boss wasn't even going to give him the week that we planned, forget about any other days at the end of August. We also have pets and nobody to take care of them when we're away. I can leave a ton of dry food for the cats and 3 litter boxes, but being away more than 7 days is pushing it. We did that a couple of years ago and now one of the cats has the lovely habit of urinating on my sofa, I guess because she wouldn't go in the dirty box. Totally our fault, but I would worry about them. My friend could come check on them, but she's kind of careless and I'd be afraid that she might let one of them run out. I also have an elderly mother who lives alone, and I don't like to be away too long.

So now we are thinking of maybe going the Veteran's Day weekend, and letting DS miss 2 days of school. He has a form of autism and has a hard time with school already, so we can't make him miss any more than that.

I wish I knew about a 24 hour rule for cancelling airfare yesterday, because now it's 48 hours since I booked it. :( I don't see anything about that on their website anyway (Jetblue). Ah well, DH is starting to like the idea of going twice because he knows it will be a looong time before we can afford to go again. All he's worried about is how much the taxes on this trip are going to be. lol

We don't know yet who will pick the resort. The radio station said they are sending their check to Disney on Friday when the contest is over, and then Disney will be in contact with us.

I'll let you know!
