We Were The Grand Marshals Of MNSSHP!!

Hi All!!!

Just returned from an amazing weekend trip to "The World".

We were picked to be in the MNSSHP parade this past Friday, Sept. 30 (10:00 parade). We were part of a group of five other families that were also picked. The best part came when it was announced my family would drive in the lead car as the grand marshals!!!! Let me tell you, I have been in love with Disney World and Walt Disney since I was 8 years old; this was really a dream come true for me. DS (age 6 dressed as Peter Pan) rode in the front seat with our delightful driver named Lee . Myself (dressed as Wendy) and DH (dressed as Captain Hook) sat in the back in what was a very surreal dreamlike ride waving to people. I was walking on a cloud for the rest of the night. (Or what was left of it.) The next day I woke up and still couldn't believe it happened!!!! It really was so magical and a lot of fun!!!!

Awwwww...we got to see your family too, then! In fact, you guys really puzzled my DH---he thought you were CMs! I had to tell him that no, it was just a lucky family.

Your costumes were wonderful---we thought the whole theme was really great! Congrats on being picked...we could tell your DS was thrilled to death!

Thanks for not thinking we looked liked dweebs!!!! My DS was really really excited; I think for a bit he thought he was a CM!!!!!!

Okay, here is how it happened. We got our MNSSHP photos taken at the Hall of the Presidents around 7:00. On the way out a Disney CM (he was in civilian duds with a lanyard and of course his CM badge.) stopped us to chat. At first he complimented our getups and thought it was great we were all dressed in the same theme. He then asked if we knew about the parade. Of course we said.. He then asked that (I am quoting this I didn't make this up so don't vomit...) since "your family is so darn cute would you like to be in the parade!" After I stopped jumping up and down and squealing we made arrangements as to where to meet. My husband told the CM he made a dream come true for me; the CM smiled and said, "That is what I hope to do!" He also told us that five other families would be picked and we would ride on a double decker bus in the parade. Sounded like fun to me!

All the families met at the appointed time and place and we went to a backstage area. At that point the CM gave out the assignements as to who would ride in the cars and who would ride on the bus; that is when we found out we would be the grand marshals!!!! Once we were seated the CM made a special trip up to our car to share that the car we were riding in was once Walt Disney's and he used to personally drive his guests around in the car. I got goose bumps and couldn't stop smiling.

One other really cool part was that we saw the Headless Horseman get ready for his ride-that is my favorite part of the parade so to be so close was just awesome!!!

Here is my tip-try to dress in a similiar theme (all the other families that were picked had on similiarly themed costumes) and appear like you like the people you are with. The CM stressed that we were picked because Disney is about family and it looked like we were having a great time together. (I didn't mention the meltdown my son had earlier in the day and how we weren't quite so happy then....)
