We WERE going to rent a car, but....

Is it possible to get around Orlando without renting a car? Our insurance doesn't cover car rentals and my BF won't rent a car without it. Since buying insurance basically doubles the price of the rental, we are considering not renting a car, and just using the money we would have spent on cabs, etc. The main reason this will be an issue is because we have plans to go to Universal and Seaworld, and I'd also like to spend an evening at Citywalk. Oh, and we have a few ADRs at some of the other resorts, and I know transferring to get there can be quite time consuming. But my question- is it reasonable to try doing all of this without a rental car? Anyone know the going rate of a cab from POFQ to Seaworld/Universal/other Disney resorts? Any input would be much appreciated!

Some credit cards offer car rental insurance coverage. If you're planning on one for the rental you might check with your vendor.

If we plan a trip which includes WDW and Universal/Sea World we normally split our stay. We stay on site at WDW when we visit the parks then move to US/IOA on site hotel for their parks. They also offer a free shuttle to Sea World (or did last year). I don't remember how much the exact transfer fare was last time we went but think it was around $30-$40 one way. A wonderful advantage to staying on site at US/IOA is the front of the line advantage. No waiting for most attractions. That's why we do WDW first. I think if we did Universal first we'd be impatient at WDW. You can also walk back to your hotel from City Walk or take their transportation.

I've only used a cab once at WDW for travel within the park area. I don't remember how much we paid to go from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the All Stars. Not a lot of help, am I? :)

I never rent a car and have no problems getting around. I understand getting around will be bit more time consuming, but factor that in to myplanning. Hey, I'm on vacation, so I have to spend a little extra time on a bus, monorail, or boat - it's better than sitting at my desk! ::yes::

I use a car service, Sunray Transportation, for my airport to hotel transfers. Then when I have a niece or nephew with me we always go to SeaWorld for one day, so we Sunray for that too. I just prefer using a car service, it's just nice, for me anyway, to take care of all the scheduling, etc., upfront and then know there is someone there waiting for you.

Also, not sure what all your plans are, but have you thought about splitting your stay between Universal for a couple days, do all the stuff there (they do have transportation from Universal hotels to SeaWorld), then going to a WDW hotel for the rest? Just a thought.

Cheers!

I think you might also want to check into transportation from TTC - I remember reading somewhere (I will continue to look for it) that you could take Orlando public bus service bus #50 out of TTC for something like $1.50 each way to SeaWorld. Then it would return you back to TTC for the same price. $3 round trip isn't to bad.

We are facing the same dilemma~ we are staying in a villa off of Poinciana Boulevard (about 15 minutes from WDW)... Will it end up to be more costly to cab every day back and forth (4 days at disney+ seaworld+shopping ect) then renting a van? Please help!
