We were first (and last!)

Maybe I'm the only one but I wouldn't want my twins to have different birthdays much less a different birth year. It may be neat for your hospital but I don't think it's neat for the parents or the twins for that matter.

My husband is an identical twin and he would have LOVED this. He's never had his own birthday party.

I guess I think that it's kind of nice. One of my friends who is a twin has always said that her birthday isn't very special because she's always had to share it with her sister. I think it's cool that each twin has his or her's own special day.

Dates really do mean something to some people. My MIL was really horrified when she went into labor at the end of August, because everyone was telling her it was going to be a Labor Day baby. She pushed for all she was worth, and got that baby out before midnight. And one of my SIL went into labor on April Fools Day (which I thought was very funny, but she didn't.) She didn't really try to delay the birth, but tells everyone she was glad she 'held on' until April 2nd.

My cousin was due in the middle of Sept. of 2004. Her entire pregnancy she talked about how she didn't want to have her baby born on Sept. 11th. Guess what...her son was born on Sept. 11th! My cousin is a lot like me (big time planner, etc.), but when it comes down to it, some things are completely out of our control.

My son gets upset that his twin sister was born three minutes before him. I can only imagine how :headache: he'd be if she had bragging rights which included a whole different year, LOL. I just told them about this and they were cracking up.

BTW, they think their shared pool parties are pretty cool since they get to have a big crowd of all their friends, boys and girls.

My DD7 and my mom share the same birthday. DD was my moms 40th b-day present

Very cool! Congratulations.

My daughter was born on September 10th. She shares her birthday with her great grandpa who was also born September 10th, but not the same year (of course.) My brother's birthday is September 11th but since that is not the most festive of days now he likes to celebrate on September 10th too.

As a mom of twins, I think it's neat. My twins were born late at night and everyone kept saying Oh, wouldn't it be neat if they were born on different days. Ultimately, you don't have too much control over these things- they come when they want to

That's what I'm thinking, it would make life a little difficult from now on. Of course, they are going to be born when they are born, so you deal. I was just thinking, good thing it wasn't on the school cut-off day!! You would have 1 twin going to school a year earlier than the other twin. THAT would be bizarre.

I can already imagine the paperwork headaches from now on. EEK! The tax thing is true, they will be able to only claim 1 child for 2006 but 2 children for 2007.

My twins were born at 12:01 AM and 12:20 AM. It actually never even accured to me that they were almost born on different days till it was all over.

I thought this was so cool, I just had to share. We had twins born here last night. One at 11:58pm and one just after midnight on the 1st! Twins, born in different years! Plus, I'm certrain the last baby born in the city last year and the first this year. (We're only able to confirm the city, I bet it will extend further)

I had always wondered if people fudged these things, and now I am reassured they are fairly legit. (At least it was here) The actual OB doing the delivering refused to look at the clock. Everything proceded according to regular protocol. And we used the same digital clock used for every delivery for timing. Very exciting!

In case anyone is worried, btw, this is totally HIPAA compliant, as it's been released to the press.

Just saw your story on the news. The babies are adorable. The best to you all!

I thought from the beginning I would have a St. Patrick's Day baby. I went into early labor just before his scheduled induction on March 16th...a little less Pitocin and four more hours and he would have been a St. Patty's baby.

That is very cool!!!

Were they girls (possibly boys)?

I just caught the story on the news too. Cute little babies!

It was a relief to know that they ended up being girls or boys. I was worried for a minute.
