I am still excited! I was the best $29.00 we ever spent. We stayed for one night in a tent. It was our first time camping, ever. They had a heated pool, which was worth the $29.00 itself! :) We made hotdogs & smoores. My children were impressed. They thought real smoores tasted so much better than the Pop Tart kind they are used to. My son went on a pony ride. We stayed up late, telling scarey stories. It was the best "family time" we have ever spent. It's like those wonderful evenings when the elctric goes out, only better! (Are we the only family that loves it when the electric goes out at night?) They even show movies on a big screen outside at night, but we didn't bother with it. There were just too many things to do. A deer even walked right up to our tent. It rained quite a bit, but we didn't care. :) We can't wait to go camping again! :)

I remember your post about going, you seemed nervous about it...so GLAD to hear you enjoyed it. We love tent camping!!! It is great 'family' time, IMHO.

LOL, nope, we love it too, but unfortunately our electricity NEVER goes out for hours like it did when I was a child. We usually just get a blink (just enough to mess up all of the clocks but not enough for fun!)

So, did you forget any essentials or are there any items you will definitely bring next time? Tent camping is one of those experiences that teaches you to prepare for anything and pack like a pro!

Glad the kids enjoyed the real mcCoy s'mores...LOL

I think we had everything. If we didn't have it, the store at the park did. They even delivered wood to our site for $5.00. If we are going to continue camping, we will have to get an air mattress. It was to get comfy! :) We are thinking of trying another jellystone park in a couple of weeks. :)

Glad you had a good time. Sounds like a blast! I love camping, and hope to get to go this September.

Sounds like fun! We are going camping next weekend. But nowhere as cool as Jellystone. We did camp at "Bedrock" last summer. (Flintstone themed campground in SD)

Melessa, I found a website for Flintstone's Bedrock City Campground, that sounds like a lot of fun too! I wish they had one around here. :)

we are avid campers and i would recommend the coleman queen air mattress with two separate air chambers. dw and i can sleep on it and move around and it doesn't disturb the other one of us. very comfy.

we did a jellystone, (in a cabin), at mammoth cave last year and had a great week. fil stayed at one this summer in colorado and it was not as good though, so i guess it depends on who runs the campground.

we are talking about going to ft. wilderness just to camp, not necessarily to go to the parks, i hear that a lot of people do that. it is rated as one of the best campgrounds in the country, we stayed there once in the trailers that they had before wilderness cabins, but we were doing the parks up right and didn't see much of ft. wilderness, so that's why wwe may take the tent and camp out there to enjoy the resort.
