After the brief overview of Poly, DH decided he doesn't want to stay there :sad2:

So...I've been researching other options all day & we've narrowed it down between GF & YC (standard room at either). I'm leaning toward YC because I know the kids would love the pool but love the monorail from GF :confused3

Also on the DVD the decor of YC rooms is completely different than other pictures I have found. Have they redone all the rooms recently?

I would make my decision based on the ages of your kids. Little ones won't be able to use the pool slide at SAB independently (if at all) and proximity of the GF to MK make it an excellent choice. The pools at GF are really beautiful too. We preferred staying at the GF but when our kids get older will probably go back to BC/YC.

We stayed at the YC and LOVED it!!!
We keep wanting to like the Poly but just can't get excited about it.
We thought the treatment we recieved at YC was excellent. Very close to the boats also to go to MGM and Epcot. Short walk !!
Also the bus service was excellent and the bus stop was right out the front door.
The pool area is wonderful.
We saw many small children in the pool but I don't know what things they could and could not do there.
The location is wonderful. I really think this resort has something for all ages.
The rooms were just wonderful. The decor was very nice and the balcony was a good size to sit outside.
On our trip in April we are going back to AKL but we are staying at YC again in Dec when we go. (value season prices!!!)

My DS is 11, DD 9 & DS 8. I agree they would love the pool & are all good swimmers. I was going to skip the water parks but I'm outnumbered on that decision too. :)

Do you happen to remember the color or design on the bedspreads?
All the pictures I have found have either the boats or this blue/rosey pattern.

I've never stayed at YC, so I don't know about room decor...But with the ages of your kids, I would stay there rather than GF. Not only are two parks closer and you have access to SAB, but the Boardwalk is there too! We're hoping to do the Poly this summer, again with our little ones it's more practical to stay at a monorail resort. Maybe you could eat at Ohana's one night and get your husband set for your next visit! Never too early to start dropping hints! :cool1:

What a great idea! :goodvibes

He really thru me for a loop last night. I've had the resort booked for 6 months & was already planning meals. Now I feel like I'm starting all over.

The waterparks were excellent. Don't rule it out. It was very relaxing. I think that all your options sound great.

The YC room decor changed back in 2002. It is now navy blue with white and dark woodwork ... I believe the old decor was pastel with white wood.

Our room decor was the light blue with the boats. I'll look on the web and see if I can find some pictures to send you that match what we had.
( Our furniture and and head board were all white.)

Hey Westchester Girl!!!! I'm your neighbor in Rockland and I work in Westchester! :wave2:

Deb's page has a good picture allearsnet.com/acc/yc35.jpg
That is just what ours looked like. We even had the same picture on the wall. :rotfl:

The quick interior shot shown on the new Disney DVD is the old decor - everything has been repainted - also new wallpaper, new furniture, new curtains/spreads/linens, so it all looks very fresh and clean.

We stayed at the BC for years and then one summer were unable to get rooms, so we ended up at the YC instead - it was a wonderful change and now we have a hard time deciding between the two hotels.

The Epcot area is excellent for children - don't forget the added attraction of night-time at the boardwalk - there are often "acts" strolling the boardwalk that my kids just love to see. The bus service from the Epcot hotels to MK is usually very good - we never had difficulty getting to and from the park. Plus, we have always enjoyed all the dining options in the Epcot hotel area - lots and lots of great choices.

Based on your children's ages, I think an Epcot area hotel would give you more flexibility and things to enjoy at your hotel (and the surrounding area).

Good luck with your planning!

Thanks for the help. I haven't had much luck finding photos.

I have ALWAYS enjoyed staying at the monorail resorts! It's really convenient and makes it easy to get to the MK or EPCOT (with a quick transfer of trains at the TTC). In my experiences though, ANY Disney resort is an excellent choice.

Form what I have heard though, the YC/BC resort is a favorite of many because of its proximity to EPCOT, MGM, and the Boardwalk!
