We took the plunge!!!! Now a couple questions please....

Well we made an offer this morning and it was accepted! My wife and I are absolutely thrilled!

It's a December use year with all points from 2000 still available. Here's a few questions if you wouldn't mind...

We already have our vacation booked for June @ OKW through Dreams Unlimited so as much as I would like to use points for this June, our agent has worked very hard for us and has been great. Maybe I have an unnecessary sense of loyalty but it's not a big deal for me.

So my question is that if we wanted to bank our 2000 points into 2001 for a 2002 vacation, they would need to be banked by May 31st. Am I still able to make a reservation for a June 2002 vacation 11 months out when my banked 2000 points and 2001 points won't be available until Dec 2001? (I have no idea what I just wrote . In other words, do you have to wait until your points are "active" in order to make a reservation? I think I'm totally confusing this! Is it that you have to make a reservation with your points before they expire or that you have to travel before the points expire? HELP, I know this all second nature for most of you and I am feeling like a point moron!

Yes , as long as the points will be available for when the reservation is.

just remember that the points are from the use year the resservation is in, not when you make the reservation.

Simple rule to remember: You can always make ressies 11 months in advance at home resort and 7 at others. Detach that rule from everything else as it stands alone without thinking about the particular points.

The only complicated part is which points you actually use for that trip. That is determined solely by when you will be there not when you make the ressie. Thus for a 2002 trip you will need to bank those Dec 2000 points into the Dec 2001 to Nov 2002 use year to use them for that trip.

Dean, so glad to hear your family has decided to join and we will be "neighbors"! We also have a December use year. You will have no problems banking your December 2000 points before the end of may and then making a 2002 reservation at the 11 month window. MS is good about using banked points before current use year points..but it also never hurts to confirm that is what they will be using for your next reservation. You didn't say if your points were at OKW or BWV??
