I've written about this a couple of times before in different threads so I thought I would let all of you supportive people know how we surprised our kids with a trip to WDW. Well, my anxious wait is finally over. We're planning a trip in September and we told the kids yesterday (Sunday) at the baby's first birthday party. We have 3 older children (son, 9; daughters 7 and 4), and for the baby's birthday we wrapped a pair of Mickey Ears and an autograph book with a note from Mickey. My 9-year-old read the note while the girls openned the gift. It said:

Dear Jill,

Minnie and I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday! Your parents told us that you've never been to Disney World. We thought it would be really great to see you before the summer was over, so we'd like to invite you and your family out for a visit next month.

Yes, that's right-You're going to Disney World!

Your Mom and Dad will tell you all about it.

See you in September!

Love, Mickey

My son started smiling while he was reading and he just looked at his sister and you could see the realization of what was happening as it hit them! It was so great! My parents were there, as well as my in-laws, who are coming with us. My brother and his wife and their two kids were there, too. It was so much fun! I felt so fortunate that we could afford to give this to our children.

Just wanted to share!

Sounds like a great surpirse and what a wonderful memory your children will have!! Hope you all have a great time on your trip:)

Great job! I'm sure they are now bouncing off the walls. We plan to tell our kids in the next couple of weeks but haven't figured out just how yet. dd11, dd9, ds7 looking for any suggestions!

Hi

We surprised our 2 daughters this year. We had already booked to go to Lanzarote in July so we booked 2 weeks at April in Gran Canaria. We did not tell them at all. :D
We packed our cases and put them in the car without them knowing, then set off for the airport. As we drove into the airport we told them that we were picking up tickets for their Grandparents. When I got out of the car and handed them each an envelope they hadn't got a clue what was happening, when they opened up the envelopes, it was Euros for spending money, I then told them what was happening. It was brilliant to see the reaction on their faces. :sunny:

When we come home from Lanzarote I booked to go to Florida at Christmas. I was going to to the same and not tell them but after a week the excitement was getting to much for me so I had to tell them. The reaction was fantastic. Now only 20weeks 3 days till we can see Mickey in a Santa suit ::MickeyMo

That is a great way to surprise them!
We surprised our girls in June. We had come back from our disneymoon in May and at the end of June, DH found an unbeatable deal online. We booked it, then called the kids into a meeting to discuss vacation (they thought we were going to Myrtle Beach). Told them we couldn't get a place at the beach (DD13 mouth dropped open) Then, DH said "instead.....we're going to Disney World." They both screamed so loud I think they were heard 3 blocks away!
It's great to see their faces when you surprise them with a Disney trip!

I just told my two oldest grandkids last Wed. I booked a trip for Oct.

In the past year and a half I had planned 3 different trips with the whole family to WDW. Myself and dh wanted all our children and grandkids to go. Everyone would agree to go and then when it was time to make the reservations they would cancel. The 2 oldest grandkids, cousins, 11 and 9 knew what was going on and were very disappointed. The younger ones never knew there had been plans.
The last thing the oldest ones heard was the trip had been planned for Nov. and possibly would be cancelled again.

So on Wed. I got the two of them in my kitchen and told them I had some a"good news" and some "bad news" for them. At which point the older of the 2 started yelling NOOOO! She just knew it was about WDW. She thought it was being cancelled again. The "bad news" is we aren't going to WDW in Nov. Then I said the "good news" is we ARE going in Oct. instead.

They are 2 happy kids right now. I told them to get to work planning our trip.
