we stayed at Ron Juan Resort

everything is in the main - poolside building. We did not go in the oceanfront building, it looks nice, but not a lot of parking? I don't know if they want you to park in the ramp and take the golf cart to the building after you unload your car or what?

All I know is that I just finished my Cruise album and realized how much we did not do - explore on the cruise and at this hotel...next time - my daughter would like to go in Aug for her birthday! Now wouldn't that be a special present... My husband and I told the kids next year it is a vacation for mom and dad - kids get to stay home! We will see....

We just got back from staying at Ron Jons last Tuesday. Beautiful property. We had a room that was on the port side next to Jetty Park. I was awesome because you can see the ships come in and out through the channel on a huge balcony.
We saw the wonder leave and heard the special disney boat horn!

We stayed at the Raddision at the Port before our cruise and was not impressed at all!!! The furniture was dirty/stained and 2 of the lamps in the room were missing light bulbs. We got a room so you can see the port but you couldn't see the Disney ship at all because it was blocked by the Carnival ship "glory" which is a huge ship.

Since I stayed at both resorts I would defenitly go back to the Ron Jons. You would need to have a car if you stayed here though. There is a McDonald's not far away at all. Thats where we at breakfast.

I thought Ron Jons was WAY closer to the port than the Raddison!!! I am not sure why other posters say it is farther away becuae you are right next to the canel???? Don't get it??
At Ron Jons we could see the ships and they were closer to us than from the Raddison.

As far as the on site grill. It was wonderful!!! I had some kibobs that were to die for!!!! It made me feel like I was still on the magic!!!

We were so impressed that we were thinking of actually buying a timeshare there...that way it would give us an excuse to come to the port once a year!

We stayed at Ron Jon's in a two bedroom unit the day before our cruise March 5th. Our daughter and friend stood on the huge balcony looking at the "awesome" water park and said we don't want to go on a cruise we want to stay here. It truly was a wonderful place. Kids played basketball and we played mini putt. The pools are heated and very warm. We own a timeshare and sure hope I can trade into it one year.
Got up early on the Saturday and went out and picked up coffees, bagels and doughnuts and some waterproof disposable cameras at Walmart and stopped by Shirley's place The Perfect Gift and met her and Norm. Sat and talked for about 10 minutes but really nice folks and close to the Radisson and Ron Jons. For us it was a good deal as we were renting two rooms at the Radisson so this was cheaper and far superior imho.
We went to Grills for supper on Saturday night. Hint or suggestion though. It is very loud, and VERY difficult to get a table later on (We went around 7:30 pm) but it was definitely an experience we will always remember. We had a good laugh. The food WAS very good (Even the hair in the hamburger of one on of our group seemed to be well done ;) )
You DO need a car or a taxi if you're at Ron Jons though. When we drove to it the signposting was very poor, probably as it is so new, and you're in a dock/industrial area with oil tanks, storage etc.

Grumbo

We have a 2 bedroom booked for June just for 2 nights before our cruise. Do the kitchens have dishes, glasses, etc.? and what about towels? Being it's a condo/villa type just wondering if we need to bring anything. I know a few have mentioned that you need a car but we are only staying 2 nights and one full day so will we be fine w/out the car? I'm assuming we can only eat at the one restaurant then? If so, plan to bring a few things for breakfast and pick up some things on the way in at our drink stop. Or does the resort have a little mini convenience store?

No your don't need to supply glasses, cookware etc. It is just like you are going to a home. Everything is there including towels etc.
There is a small store there. There is a 7 - 11 just over on the main road and it might be worth having whoever drives you there stop at a Publix or Winn Dixie to pick up some supplies. They are always much cheaper.
Cheers,
Grumbo

berly1657- You mentioned that the kids played in the play area before you left to cruise. Was there a fee for it, Shirley mentioned a fee but I was under the impression they also had a “free” inside play option.

Can anyone tell me if there is a data port in the rooms?

Thanks
Sharon

Here is a Panoramic photo of Ron Jons Water area taken from our balcony. I had to reduce the size so the detail isn't as good as the original but you get an idea of what it is like.

Does anyone know what the height requirement is for the slide? And is it one of those slides where you have to take a tube up with you?

Thanks

We tried calling the resort this week and when we got thru we were quoted almost $200 for a one bedroom in July. How are you guys getting the cheap rates. I would jump on a quote of $138.

bigd332- we utilized code 102 to get a one-bedroom in May for approx 110 per night.

bigd332- If 102 doesn’t work you can also try code 300. Shirley advised the other day that this code is still valid.

Does anyone know the pool hours??
I am assuming that the slide closes at night, are the pools open all night.
