DH and I were coming home from grocery shopping tonight. I was sitting in the left turn lane waiting for the green arrow. I'm watching the traffic coming towards us and they are starting to slow down. There's a small car and a pickup truck in the left lane stopping. Here comes an 18 wheeler, I looked at my dh and told him "That truck's not going to stop!" Sure enough he rearends the pickup pushing him into the small car, thus pushing the two of them into the intersection. They then pulled out of the intersection and pull over on the other side of the median. DH calls 911. I get out to make sure no one is bleeding. Cops got there immediately!! You could tell the guy in the pickup was hurt bad. He couldn't move his head. He wanted to get out of his truck but the cop kept telling him to stay put. The lady in the car just sat there, the police had to open her door to talk to her. I think she was in shock. They ended up taking our names and phone number and let us go. I really hope everyone is all right.

How scary!!!!
Hope the driver of the 18 wheeler is cited heavily!!!
Some of those drivers(notice I said SOME) drive waaaay to agressive for the type vehicle they are driving. I called the highway patrol for one that was constantly tailgating me.

That is so scary, I'm always soooo nervous of 18 wheelers... like on the highway and all. I hate being behind them yet I hate passing them, always afraid they are gonna start to sway into me or blow a tire. I hope everyone was ok.

Your post brought back memories of my accident 2 weeks ago... so scary yet so thankful to be alive!

That's terrible! I hope everyone will be alright.

Your story reminds me of a story I read about long ago. A driver of a big wheeler failed to stop at a toll booth. (I don't remember why --- I want to say he momentarily fell asleep. Can't recall.) He plowed into the cars in front of him. It wasn't until much later after the accident, that they realized there was a van in between the other vehicle he hit. It plowed through the van and it was sandwiched between the big rig and the vehicle that was in front of the van. Can you imagine, barely anything left of a van?! A whole family was wiped out. So sad.

I try to keep my eye on the big rigs and keep my distance.

They scare me too. Not only do some drive too aggressively but also, they are on such time constraints that they do not normally get enough sleep! So they are like timebombs in those huge trucks!

Hope all involved are okay.

anewvance - Sorry to bring back such awful memories. I'm glad you are still here.

There is just so much weight to those things I can't imagine what went wrong. I don't know if he thought the car and pickup were going to blow the yellow light and so was he, or what. The 18 wheelers run the lights all the time on this road. I can't stop thinkiing about those people. I will have to buy tomorrow's local paper to see if there is anymore news.

When I was little ( 9 or 10 ) we were sitting in a traffic jam right at the crest of the road in the fast lane.

A guy in the slow lane was sticking his head out the window looking up to see what was going on when a pick-up came over the hill not stopping. He hit this car in that lane about 4 cars lengths ahead of us so hard it hit the guys car and CUT HIS HEAD OFF CLEAN .People were just getting out of their cars vomiting it was so bad.

DH and I almost got nailed by a semi once. We were sitting at a red light when it came turning around the corner so wide that he cut into our lane, DH threw it in reverse quickly enough that we were able to back up out of his way before he literarly would have ran us over head on!

My brother is a truck driver, and a darn good one, so I know there are plenty of good drivers out there. But the bad ones are BAD!
