At this point we realize were not going to do and see everything today which took my pressure lever down a few notches. So from lunch we took a quick ride on Its a Small World. Cute, but DS again hated it. DD and I loved it lol, DH doesnt care as long as the airs on.
On to Liberty square to catch the Haunted Mansion. When I was a little girl, this ride (the
Disneyland one) made me cry, I was so scared. What a wiener I was LOL. It was fun and we all loved this ride. I love the hitchers. BTW stand bye for this ride. Less than 8 minutes.
love this pic of Mr. Grumpy.
From here we headed over to Frontier land. We walked around a bit and enjoyed ourselves. We rode my 2 favorite rides (and I think everyone elses also) at MK here. We grab a FP for Splash Mountain and hop on Big Thunder Mountain. X3! What little line there was was non existent. By the time we got done with Thunder Mountain it was time for Splash Mountain.
I love Uncle Remus. I wish I had taken pictures but I was too afraid of ruining my camera. This one ride was my favorite number one ride. I have this small problem though. I dont like getting wet. It takes me a long time to get my hair straight and yanno..Things like your undergarments showing thru clothing etc. But I was willing lol.
Im glad I did
Now at this point its getting close to 2pm. Im getting hot, and more and more people are milling into the parks and I have an urge to run away. We decide to head back to POR for a swim and a mini nap before returning to the Poly for dinner at 5pm.
DD declines rest period stating Are you kidding? Ive waited my whole life to come to the MK and Im here, Im not wasting it in a dark room!!! So, basically she stayed behind and said she would meet us at the Poly for lunch by 4:45.
On our way out we were lucky to find Pinnochio and his group offering photo ops and autographs. DS LOVED this!
Off to the Monorail we go! The conductor for the Monorail saw my DS's birthday button and he got to be assistant engineer! Made his day!
OK, so probably no one wants to know that by the time we get back to the room its 3:00 and we have very little time to rest. There is nothing like the panic of knowing you need a nap and trying to get a 20 minute power nap in while your mind is racing. With visions of Dole Whips dancing in your head.
4:30 comes really fast and we head over to the Poly. Again, I can not say enough good things about renting a car. We never used a bus, and were able to take breaks during the day and make it to the store for stuff. I loved being able to get from POR to the Poly in 5 minutes.
We arrive at Poly to have dinner with our DD at 5pm. This restaurant is NOT in the same caliber as many restaurants as far as décor and ambience go. However it is one of the better restaurants for food quality.
We start with appetizers.
DS ordered Wings. After they came, we all wished we had ordered them. OMG yum. Just yum. I love it when I get wings with out a lot of fat and fried crispy, but the sauce on these was just yum. If you think these wings are the same as Ohana, youre wrong. Ohana has nothing on these wings baby!
DD, DH and I all ordered Crab Cakes. They were very good, They don't compare to those wings though.
Now of course this is the one restaurant that doesnt ask about allergies. My DD has a mild allergy to nuts in that it makes her mouth itch and throat itch. Nothing serious, just uncomfortable. DD orders the Mahi minus the nuts, but it comes out with the macadamia nuts. We had to send this back, which takes quite a while. In the meantime we all dig in, sorry DD!
this was awsome!
DH and I ordered the Steak. YUM. What can I say, it was delicious. Loved the mashed potatoes.
DS ordered the Shrimp and scallops, minus the scallops. Fish for my son, does anyone see a pattern lol??
Desserts were great.
All in all a very very good dining choice and a great choice for those wanting a break from the MK. Its a short monorail ride. Or you can do what we did and drive to the Poly and leave your car there and take the monorail back after close. There is a catch, the parking pass isnt all day, so its really only good to do this for your evening meal.
We leave our car and take the monorail back to MK. We used our FPs to Buzz Lightyear, and went back and rode that standby 2 more times. We hit frontier land again. We basically rode big thunder mountain a few more times and SP again. It was time to scout out a parade site. I wanted to be sitting for the parade.
The Parade was AWSOME! We had great seats and enjoyed a yummy Whip while watching!
After the parade, we bolted toward the Castle. I had it on best authority to scam a spot on the bridge near the rose garden or in the rose garden, but nooooo my family wanted to stop and stay on the bridge from frontier land toward the castle. That seemed like a great idea, it was a great view of the castle, but when the works started they were behind a tree, not the castle! We RAN to the center, and just stood and watched. I seriously hoped we didnt stand infront of people but it was kinda hard not standing infront of someone in that area. Great spot but NOT cozy.
Now you must notice that I left out Adventure land. Yeah, I did. Im sorry. I confess. However, we come back tomorrow for
MNSSHP, and plan to come a bit early and do that.
