We headed over to the park a little after noon today since it was raining all morning. We hopped on the Omnibus to ride down Main Street, and when we passed the candy shop the driver mentioned they were filming something in there. I realized it was the 22nd, and that is one of the days they make the special candy canes, so I drug dh & the kids over for a peek. We were in the 2nd row of people and dh was holding the kids up to see. We were about to walk away after a couple minutes when Guy Fieri from the Food Network walked in and started helping! We hung around another 5 minutes or so and watched, and had to sign waivers since we were so close to the window and probably got on tape. We couldn't stand there much longer because the kids couldn't see and they were getting antsy. I got a couple pictures just before the producer or whatever came out and told us no pictures, but I don't have a card reader on my laptop so I can't upload them now. It was packed inside so we didn't try to go in and get a candy cane, but I kind of wish we had. If you don't know about the candy canes you can read about them here: http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/index.php/disneyland-candy-can-1087/ .

Other than that - the crowds weren't bad - we got on Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and Pixie Hollow in about 1/2 hour each, Dumbo took about 20 minutes, we walked on to Small World. We didn't stay too long today - we'll go back again tomorrow!

Wow, that's really cool.

It's really funny that you mention that Guy was there bc when I was there a couple of weeks ago, there was a guy at the parks that had crazy hair like him w/ a gotee and everything & my DDad said that the person reminded him of Guy. We kept seeing him throughout the day and I was like "Look dad, it's Guy again." lol.

My friend's father is a CM and he has been working with Guy. She is trying to get something for me.

How awesome is that!

Hmmm.. Did you get any candy canes? I heard they're super-special-yummy-not-like-normal-candy-canes!

Last night, DH and I stopped in at Napa Rose for a glass of wine and saw him there too. People approached him and he was very gracious.

We also rode Soarin' with Courtney Cox and David Arquette and their crew. Two "stars" in one trip!

I wonder if Guy is doing his own Disney special for Food Network, or if he is just going to incorporate some DLR segments into other random Food Network shows down the line. You know, I walked right by the window with the sign about the candy canes yesterday and even thought to myself, 'Oh, I wonder if this is one of the days they make them.' But this was about 9:45 a.m., so I was a few hours too early to see Guy. However, when I was walking around by myself on Sunday night (the 21st) and leaving DL at around, I guess, 9:00 p.m. or so, roughly, I noticed some camera men and another man entering DL through a special gate reserved for media, other VIPs and what not. I was thinking that it was a local news team doing a segment on DLR, but usually our local news shows do DLR pieces on significant dates, like the very beginning of the holiday season or when a new ride opens, etc. December 21st didn't seem to be all that noteworthy to me, so I wonder if it was the Food Network team going in to set up their shots for the Candy Cane segment the next day, or maybe they were going in to DL to meet with DL execs about the segment.

We missed Guy doing the candy canes but saw him and his family at TSMM this afternoon. They had a plaid with them and went in the handicapped entrance. I thought it was really cute that he had to talk his son into riding with him on the ride. Just goes to show that even though he's a celebrity, to his kids he's just dad!

We saw them making the candy canes yesterday morning on the way to the bakery. The film crew was inside the ice cream parlor and said they were from the Food Network filming segments.

We saw a celebrity, too...Brad Garrett from "Everybody Loves Raymond" was sitting a couple of tables over from us at the Blue Bayou.

Okay - not to go "needer needer, or anything like that, but....

I was in the small crowd in the Candy Palace from noon to 2ish - hanging out with Guy and the candy cane line! It was a blast. My 3 yr old was passed out in the stroller and we had the best time. Guy is very personable and was chatting with us.

Here's the scoop that even Guy didn't know - we had to tell him! They were actually done with candy canes for the season. Because Guy was there taping a show for next November - a special on DL Resort food at the holidays (co-starring with Hunter, his son), they agreed to do one more production set. They were actually supposed to do it today, but then filming got moved up a day.

We missed Cheshire - we were briefly outside the Napa when he was doing last night's taping. I actually came in to say hi to a few of the chefs and waitstaff we know well, around closing time.

I did meet one other DISer yesterday - we ran into CindyBeGood outside of Pinnochio's Daring Journey as we were putting Lily back into the stroller. She saw my string of LGMHs and asked if we DISed! Yay - my first random LGMH hit!!!!

We head home tomorrow - they offered us a "bounceback" offer in our checkout envelope - stay an extra night (til tomorrow) for only $150. SInce we used DVC to stay, we said what the heck. It allowed us to hit the EP at DCA, and get dressed up for our Santa Photo that we missed earlier in the week. All in all, we've had some great experiences.

Another Guy alert! Saw him yesterday afternoon (5pm-ish) just about to walk over the bridge on the boardwalk toward CA Screamin'. He didn't have a plaid with him, but he was talking with fans and signing autographs as he walked.

DD, who was not with us at Napa Rose the night before, got to see his white spikey hair. That was enough for her! She' a food network junkie!
