Just happened to be at Universal today, well, early evening, around 7ish. They were doing a "technical rehearsal" of the new ride. Apparently they started sometime this afternoon.

Now, I've not seen a frame of any of the movies, so I can't speak to how well it captures all the themes and so forth.

But, we did enjoy the ride. The queue area is well done, lots of cool cars, which I assume are from the films, to gape at in a garage setting.

The ride is very similar in concept to the newer Kong ride (rode that for the 1st time today too). The vehicles here a much, much cooler though. The ride actually does give an excellent illusion of high speeds. It will take several rides to catch all that is going on around you.

Sit all the way to the right, I think, for the best views.

No, not a stunner like the Harry Potter stuff but a huge improvement over what was in this space (Earthquake? Maybe?) . We are passholders, so we look forward to riding it again.

Once the ride is officially open, there will be a virtual queue, single rider, stand by and Express Pass lines. Only stand by is available during the technical rehearsal.

I hope I didn't spoil anything.

Do you think this ride would be ok for someone who gets mild motion sickness?

You absolutely didn't spoil anything!!

So glad you got to ride it.......I haven't seen any of the movies either, but look forward to trying it.......

Glad you get a feel of speed.......and nice to read you enjoyed it!!!

Sounds good! Thanks for the description! We haven't seen any of the movies but look forward to riding this in May!

Thank you for sharing!

I’m always gonna try a new ride or show no matter how the reviews are

Looking forward to when I can do this ride in the fall

We hope to catch it next week, we arrive Sunday for a few days at Portofino. Thanks for posting that it is in some limited previews! Was it in the afternoon? I read that they usually do the early previews in the afternoons?

Mild motion sickness should be okay, if you've rode Kong, then you would be fine here. The illusion is speed with some bumpiness as you are in the middle of a chase scene. Not as bad as say Rip Ride Rocket or Hulk, of course, but it is a moving ride. Not sure if closing you eyes would help.

Yesterday's preview started sometime in the mid-afternoon, according to others. Universal's sign says that it may open or close pretty much at any time. The wait time for us said 45 minutes when we joined the queue and I would say it was closer to 30. Most of the line is indoors, and, thankfully, not nearly as tight as Kong, which queue I didn't appreciate AT ALL (I'm claustrophobic and that line is TIGHT!).

We're in line for a "technical rehearsal" right now! Very excited! Not as excited about the rain that's starting, however!

How are the crowds there right now?

This is my first visit here so I don't have other to trips to compare, but crowds seem fairly light. We're staying on-site so we have the express pass, but it seems like only the big headliners have long waits, and it's very easy walking around - doesn't "feel" crowded, so to speak!

We rode yesterday around 11:30am.

We have been here all weekend and the crowds were light in the parks Saturday and Sunday. Monday was busier and the first time we had to wait in a long line to enter the parks. We had express pass from staying at the Royal pacific, which was so great!

Thank you for both posting & indicating there were no spoilers. I’m an anti-spoiler type. Nice to be able to open a review before I experience it for myself.

Love Vin Diesel but as Riddick not in that movie franchise. Hoping it won’t be a one & done for us ala Jimmy Fallon ride & there is a story line/technology in place to hold our interest

Have to toss it out there tho, still sad to see prior attraction bite the dust.

I completely agree. I can't ride The Simpsons without thinking about Back to the Future, Escape from Gringotts without thinking about Jaws or Fallon without thinking about Twister. I understand that progress brings change, but man, why does it have to be change to my total childhood!

I still miss the tram car they had in the parks back in 1992

A lot of changes in the parks over many years

Always looked forward to the new park additions but do miss some of the oldies that are long gone
