We put our DDE card to work ! Dec 17-26 Disney Dining with pics

Christmas day !!! We were supposed to try the new Donald breakfast at AK this morning, but we'd gone to bed at 2am and woke up too late, so I had to cancel it.

Instead, my mom went to get us breakfast at

Sassagoula Floatworks

Orange juice and cinnamon roll for her (good, she says).

Beignets for me - very yummy !!

My mom got the spinach & mushroom pizza

I got the four-cheese macaroni

I spotted this sign and thought it was hilarious :

WPE is a CS, and guests must be used to discarding their plates & trays at CS.. but the plates at WPE are real

The mac'n'cheese was SO good. More like cheese & mac,really. My mom doesn't like m'n'c at all usually but even she liked those; she said her pizza was delicious too.

Spoodles

My mom's favorite restaurant in WDW. She celebrated her birthday there last January, and we had the BEST server in the World, Wayne. The first thing I did when we got there was ask if Wayne was working tonight, and if so could we please please please be in his section. We got our wish, and Wayne didn't disappoint!

My mom got the Mediterannean dips as an appy

She loved this, like last time, but we were full from WPE and she barely made dent in it. But she sure had room for her sangria !

I had their new tomato & mozzarella appetizer. Very good, with just the right amount of basil and olive oil. Underneath the tomato, there were large croutons soaked in oil .

For our entree, we wanted to share the steak kabobs. My mom likes her meat rare, and I like mine very well done. My mom thought it'd be pushing it a little to ask to share a dish AND ask for the meat to be cooked to both our liking. But we asked anyway and was told it was no problem at all.
WOW - if we'd asked for something like this in one of our local restaurants here, we'd have gotten a nasty answer. One more reason we love WDW.

The kabob comes with pilaf rice and was very very good.

If you go to Spoodles, ASK FOR WAYNE !!! He works Mondays and Tuesdays.

We had a breakfast ADR at Kona, wanted to go to AK so we canceled and got Boma instead

Boma

Fruit, bagel and mini-pastries.

Fruit , pecan roll and some type of cake??

Bacon and eggs, mini apple turnover, mini chocolate croissant, pancake and challah french toast.

Eggs, bacon, roasted ham, and pap with cinnamon and raisins.

We love Boma, ate there 3 times in October. Don't miss the Jungle Juice, soooo good.

Keeping the best for last....

California Grill

It was our very first Signature meal. You have to first check in on the 2nd floor, then take an elevator to the 15th floor. I expected this restaurant to be a little on the snobby side, but was completly wrong. Everyone was friendly. Our server was Topher and he was great!!
We were seated right next to the window overlooking Magic Kingdom. The view was incredible.

My mom started with the Fresh Maine Lobster with Hearts of Palm, Avocado, Tomato, crisp Serrano Ham and Citrus Vinaigrette.
She said it was amazing.

I had the California Rolls. Very good, came with wasabi and ginger.

For her entree, my mom got the Oak-fired Filet of Beef.

She said the steak was much better than Le Cellier, thicker, and cooked rare just the way she likes.

I couldn't decide what to get for an entree. This all seemed to fancy for me; I thought of ordering the filet too, but when I told our server I wanted it (and I quote) "dead, really dead, charcoal dead"... he made a face and told me that'd pretty much ruin the steak. My mom agreed. In the end it's a good thing I didn't take that, because I would have never been able to eat a steak that thick.

For some reason I decided to take the scallops dish instead. I missed the "jumbo" part of the description and expected the tiny scallops I sometimes eat at home.

I didn't like this at all My mom tasted one of the scallops and said it tasted very good, but to me it tasted horrible, plus I hated the consistency.
The mushrooms it came with were great, but that's all I liked.

Thankfully, we still had one course left. My favorite : dessert !!!

I had the Bananas and Butterscotch "Buzz"

This was lick-your-plate amazingly good. There's one layer of crispy plantain, then the butterscotch frozen custard, another crispy plantain, topped with warm bananas. And butterscotch syrup all over.

My mom had the Valrhona Chocolate and Coffee (Warm Chocolate Cake with Molten Center, House-made White Coffee Ice Cream and Cappuccino Anglaise)

She loved it, and was glad I "made" her order dessert.

Overall it was an amazing dinner. We came back upstairs later and watched the fireworks from their observation deck. If we come back, I'll stick to sushis and maybe a flatbread though. And dessert, of course

Thanks for the updates. Sounds like a great meal at Spoodles - how good of them to cook the kabobs two different ways for you

California Grill looks good but I'm a really fussy eater and always think I wouldn't find anything on the menu - however, your Mom's filet looks amazing

Thanks for the reviews. We dined at CP for the 1st time (dinner) this past year and were pleasantly surprised at what good quality it was for a character buffet. Since I'm such a huge Eeyore fan and my DD loves Piglet, it is definitely on our must do list from now on.
I'm sorry you didn't like your scallops - I wish I was there, I would have taken them off your hands. They are one of my favorite foods and I only eat the jumbo kind. In fact, your whole meal looked great to me - California rolls and bananas are also on my list of foods I love. Hopefully, I will make it to California Grill some day. It definitely has a menu my whole family would love.

Oh that's funny! Yes we saw you with your tye-dye shirts as you walked past our table. No, we were in the main room right before you get to the open kitchen. It was myself, DH and DD's 12 & 8. I recognized you and your mom from pictures here on the DIS as I've followed your other reports.

Hello! I am trying to decide where we should do for dinner one night. We are on the DDP. We are staying at the ASMoand will be at MK on the day in question. Should we go to O'Hana, Hoop De Doo, Whispering Canyon or just stay in MK and go to Liberty Tree? Thanks so much. Also if someone can tell me is there a way to check on replies for my posts? I am new here and dont know how so what I have been doing is just searching for my posts and clicking on them. Sonetimes I cant find them at all.
