We ended up having 4 meal credits left on the last day and I already had 2 meals scheduled and budgeted for. We were on the DDxP. So we ended up paying for breakfast for a family of 4 who were not on the dining plan. Felt nice to make someone's day.

That was nice of you. I am just surprised that the CM let you do that as I thought the credits were no transferable.

If you were giving away a CS meal it would not be noticable as to ' who ' was going to eat it.

We checked with the manager and she said the credits were ours to use however we wanted but that we would need to find people to give them too. The family we gave them to was on the monorail with us. So I approached them first. The server brought us there bill and then to the people for the tip then ran our card for the meals.

Okay. That makes sense. I thought it was table service credits but you are correct if it was counter serivce then there is no way to confirm that.

So it was table service. WOW that was nice of the manager to allow you to do that.

Someone passed their's on to our group of 10 as well. They had 9 CS left to be used that day. They also gave us 4 juices they bought with their snack credits. A MAGICAL day indeed!

It's really great to give a piece of magic sometimes. Random gifts of kindness can spread like wild fires... I have on occasion paid for someones gas at a gas station, paid someone's tolls, etc.

It's always good to make someones day for a few bucks.

Good for you OP....we did the same thing last June.

My hubby and I had 6 CS's left by the end of our last day and since we were leaving on a plane by 6am the next day...we waited at the AP at SSR and bought two different families their dinner. They were both elated.

The manager was standing there and she knew what we were doing. She even told us we were very nice to think of others. I paid for the credits, I can pay for whom evers meal I wish. :)

I posted this before and boy was I jumped on...posters stating that its not transferrable and all that yadda yadda garbage. I didn't transfer anything to anyone. I was standing right there paying for it...with a manager 3 feet away. It was no problem and we were glad to help others rather than the credits just fade away.

I say...pay it forward...anytime...anywhere!:thumbsup2

best wishes for many great future trips for the OP...:)

That's so great of you to do that, and even better that managers are allowing it to be done. Helping to spread the magic makes Disney an even greater place!!

I think this was a lovely thing to do, and it's really good the manager allowed it. I know if we have spare credits from our next trip we'll try and give them away.

You did. Not an argument, merely a statement.

Disney Dining Plan credits cannot be shared with anyone not part of the Guest's reservation/package. Is it enforced? Apparently not always - but it's one of the rules of Disney Dining Plan participation. Again, NOT an argument, merely a statement.

We KNOW what the policy is, making a "statement" about it isn't necessary. Or maybe in the appropriate thread it would be, where someone has asked about the rules of the DP. Everyone here is sharing about some food magic they've shared.

This topic is not one we advocate on the DDP board. Disney's policy is quite clear on sharing credits. It seems that the dining managers are not following their own policies.
