I was SUPPOSED to start earlier but I cracked a wisdom tooth and I don't want to tell you that sad story... :(

Well, I've been reading and stocking up and we, me and Michael started our plan this morning.

Okay, guys -- I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MUCH WE CAN EAT!!

Mike and I are breakfast fanatics and the idea that I can have my favorite omelet with green peppers, onions, cheese and turkey sausage and Michael had a 2 egg omelet, I usually give him one, with bacon and swiss cheese was beyond our imagination! I had green tea with Splenda and a huge glass of water, Michael drinks water bottles with every meal so that will not be a big thing for him.

My sister is making roasted chicken and vegetables for us this afternoon after church. She makes us dinner every Sunday and everything she makes is really okay if she leaves out the macaroni!!

I thought it would be hard giving up caffeine but so far I've made it through the morning without killing anyone! I hope I make it through the day.

I want to personally thank Kath and Lisa for the emails and PMs that took all the "mystery" away. This board is sooo awesome, I'm so ashamed that I didn't realize this sooner.

We intend to be BIG success stories! My 11yo is so excited about this, even reading the book! I have no doubt he will do better than I do!

Best wishes to you and Mike, Robin! I know you guys will do GREAT!

I'm sure that Michael will get quite the education.

My children are 11, 8, and 4. The two oldest know more than their peers about protein and carbohydrates!:p They know at dinner time they don't have to finish the carbohydrates (except for the veggies) but they do have to finish the protein.

If I take a bite of their tortilla, they say, " Are you allowed to have that, isn't that a carbohydrate??" :o I have created lo-carb monsters. :teeth:

We are all so proud of both of you. And your sister!! Tell her we think she is a gem for helping you like that and not sabotaging you.:)

Good luck to you and DS, Robin! :Pinkbounc :bounce: I know you're both gonna do great!!

And how super that your DS is so interested in this plan!! That's so wonderful to see in an 11 yr old!! And I agree--your sister deserves a great big  for helping!!

I wish you and your son much luck on SBD.::yes::

I started in August and I am very pleased with it.

I have also made some changes to my family's diet with some of the things I have learned.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Yay, Robin!

You're off to a great start. Having both of you working at this together should make it much easier and so much more fun for both of you. You've got a great support group at home and here on the DIS!

Let me offer a big **OFFICIAL** WISH Welcome on your first day!!

Kathy princess:

Welcome to the Beach! I just started this woe on 1/1, but I'm finding it pretty easy to follow. I've lost 7 pounds so far. I thought I'd let you know what one of my favorite SB desserts is. A lot of people don't like the ricotta deserts, but if you use fat free ricotta and almond extract/splenda, it tastes a lot like cannoli cream (it also has a similar texture). I hope things go smoothly for you and your son and that you enjoy this woe.

Thanks guys!

I did post about the SB diet this past week but decided to do Atkins mostly because my ex-boss is helping me so much with it. She gave me the book and all of her "secrets"! She looks so awesome I could just die!

I just got back from dinner at my sisters' house. She made roast chicken, fresh broccoli with cheddar cheese shreds melted on top and hamburger patties! We ate like FOOLS! She also made lemonade with no sugar which we added splenda to.

My son told her that she's gonna see how well we do and SHE'S gonna join, too! She just  and said "yeah, right"...

We'll show HER! :teeth:

Hi there! I am riding in on your enthusiasm and excitement. How wonderful and lucky you are for finding WISH, family, and many friends are wanting to help you with this journey. While it is a journey that must be taken by the individual, it is certainly great and much easier to have help along the way.

Keep on keepin' on.

That's wonderful, Robin! I just know you and Michael will do very well on Atkins. :)

My DH and I have been on Atkins since the end of September. The first 20 pounds came off pretty easily, and I've been maintaining that weight loss since Thanksgiving. Now it's time to get more disciplined, now that the holidays are over. I want to be in bathing suit condition 7 weeks from now, when I go on my first cruise!

Congratulations to both of you, Robin. I can feel your determination to succeed. Weigh to go!

Sorry to hear about that cracked tooth. OUCH.

You are both going to do great with this. Eat when you are hungry especially the first week. As I told you the first few days are the hardest but it doesn't last long, I promise.

Michael is going to lose weight so quickly on this plan because he is growing "up" too.

{{{HUGS}}} my friend. We're here if you need us, never forget that. That is the magic of WISH. The support group is here for us 24/7.

{{{HUGS}}} to our Michael too and make sure he takes a multiple vitamin everyday. You should too :)

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

I have to say the first DAY was so easy it was amazing. What I can't understand is this instant ENERGY I now have.

I spoke to my sister in Chattanooga who has had the book for months but hasn't cracked it! I raved about it so much she dug it up and is now going to try it. My sister has a LIST of ailments that this diet can really help.

Again, thanks to all my new friends and my OLD, not literally, friends! Support is so important in any endeavor, especially one that is life changing.

How great you got the energy boost right away. It worked that way for me, too but Wilgus felt rotten the first 4 days then the energy kicked in and he was literally amazed at how great he felt.

Your enthusiasm is contagious. I have been intenionally maintaining my weight the past few months but I think it's time to get back on strict induction and start losing again. You have motivated me today, Robin. Thank you!

That's awesome new, Kath. Considering how you've inspired so many for so long that is a REAL compliment! :teeth:

Hi Robin!

I'm so glad you got started. I think Atkins and SBD are pretty similar - I call them kissing cousins. I have picked up a lot of recipes off the lowcarbfriends.com site. Don't forget to check out Ruby Tuesdays when you come off induction. I have a post about feeling like a princess on the board and describe me and DH's wonderful dinner (and the fantastic lc cheesecake) we enjoyed last night. My official weigh-in day was yesterday and I am happy to say that I have lost 22.5 pounds since 12/1/03. I started measuring on 1/1/04 and have lost 8 inches. This way of eating is so yummy and the results are awesome too!

We definitely can be successful this year and having fellow WISHers spur you on makes it even better. Happy low carbing to you and your family!!!!

Hi Robin,
Welcome to WISH. You sound like you are off to a terrific start. I do WW's, but Katholyn and so many others have done so great on Atkins.

Melanie
