Hey guys and gals,

We have booked for the end of the year with the dinning plan. We have not tried very many of the sit down restaurants in our past two visits. The places we did try were Le Celler (Epcot), Fultons Crab House (DTD) and the Brown Derby (MGM).
The last two we weren't very impressed with, Fultons was so so. I feel you get better seafood at Red Lobster. What do you guys think give them another chance?
The Brown Derby was not our cup of tea, neither of us liked anything we were served. Maybe just too nice for our fast food taste buds :rotfl:.
Our question for all of you is what restaurant do you suggest for ADR's, what kind of food is served and your experience good or bad?

Well I would not go back to any restaurant you did not like.. there are plenty more to choose from. Also remember it is sometimes the ambience and the food that make the restaurant.
Check out the restaurant menus as the first place to start for your next trip.
I am going back to Ohana's.. love the food there.. shrimp, salad, potatoes and the steak skewers.. oh and the dessert too.
I am also trying the Maya Grill.. looks like yummy Mexican food.
ALso doing some character meals.. we have little ones so food is not the may reason for going to 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and Story Book dining.
You might like the Sci-Fi at MGM
I would also suggest that you look at the Dining forums here

2for me,

The character meals are probably not on our list of things to do seeing as we don't have kids, unless they are something everyone should do at least once?
The reason I'm asking on the Canadian board for suggestions is because I've noticed over the years, American's taste for what food is good and ours are a bit different. ;)
Ohana's sounds good, writing it down and looking it up!
Keep them coming.

Even if you don't want the characters, some of those meals are great. We really enjoyed 1900 Park Fare (both breakfast and dinner). We just felt that the food was better than most other buffets. We also liked Boma, the Concourse Steakhouse and the Kona Cafe; Le Cellier was a must. The Sci Fi Diner was a unique atmosphere but the food was definitely lacking. We also usually book a dinner mid-trip at the Liberty Tree Tavern for the "comfort foods". The turkey and mashed potatoes are usually a nice change from some of the fast food! Check out the menus online first and you can get a good idea of what you might like.

Happy planning!:goodvibes

We enjoy Ohana and Boma.We also had a great breakfast at Spoodles. the Kona Cafe is good and we love the food at the Prime Time Diner.

Supper

Ohana's - just save room for the Bread Pudding dessert (the best in the park!)

Le Cellier - friendliest service and excellent steak dinners

Liberty Tree Tavern - a tasty down-home cooked meal without the surprises (not exotic - safe for kids stomachs)

Lunch

Sunshine Seasons - most variety of any CS offering and it was delicious!

Flame Tree BBQ - HUGE, yummy portions (I felt guilty not finishing my lunch)

Sci-Fi Dine-In - good food with an awesome atmosphere for the whole family

... if anyone could add to the list I would appreciate it. I need other's opinions about some potential areas myself.

Thanks

We always try to have at least one dinner at Boma. It is a buffet with an African theme/menu. The spices are quite different from what we normally have at home but not overly hot or anything. We love the place.

Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom is a good counter service choice as is Pecos Bills at Magic Kingdom.

Beaches & Cream is a great choice for a burger/onion rings and excellent sundaes. (No Way Jose is our favourite!)

We thoroughly enjoyed 50's Prime Time at MGM.

The food court at Pop Century has pretty good food and plenty of variety.

We have been to several of the nicer places in the last few years and Jiko at Animal kingdom Lodge is probably our favourite, though we also greatly enjoyed our meals at Flying Fish, Portobello Yacht Club, Wolfgang Puck, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Artist Point.

On the other side of the ledger, there were a few meals that were mediocre at best and I doubt we will return. Although it places me squarely in the minority, our meal at Le Cellier was not good. Slow service, average food at best ( my filet was cold. Not lukewarm, cold). As a Canadian, I so wanted to love the place as much as those who had written about it before and since, but there have been too many better meals at other places to bother going back any time soon.

Another popular one we didn't care for was Whispering Canyon. the servers are entertatining but we found the food mediocre. I had the skillet, my wife had the pasta (yuck) and my son really did like his steak. Another we will probably not go back to.

A few off site places we like to visit are Bahama Breeze, Orlando Ale House, Bubbaloos Bodacious BBQ, Chipotle, and pizzeria Uno.

Have Fun
John

Thank you for all the feed back guys, we took all your selections and cross referenced them with the menu's and found a lot of them sounded good. Now the hard part, narrowing down the selection :headache:.
The other great thing about this is the amount of restuarants that we had no clue even exsisted. DIS rocks!

and to completly befuddle you I'll add in a few more!

We had our very best meal on our October trip at Kona Cafe at the poly.

We like the skillet at WCC but you have to go at a reasonable meal hour or you get rushed - we showed up for a very late lunch and felt rushed out of the joint! We usually eat there at least once every trip.

Le Cellier is a great meal - would't pay out of pocket for it because I think it's too much money for a meal but we did it on the dining plan which was great.

In August we are trying out Boma for the first time and Coral Reef - both I've heard great things about.

If you want to do a dinner show we had a great time at the hoop de doo - good food and a funny show!!

places I'll avoid next time - hollywood and vine - terrible buffet IMO - preferred the Chef Mickey buffet - didn't like the Crystal palace buffet either. Wasn't impressed with the turf club at SSR either.

Good luck choosing!! could take you a while to get through all those menu's.

Our faves:

* Ohana's
* Kona Cafe
* Le Cellier
* Boma
* Boatwright's
* Beaches and Cream
* Earl of Sandwich
* Flame Tree BBQ
* Artists Point
* Teppanyaki
* Garden Grill

We really like OHana and Teppanyaki.

For counter service we like Earl of Sandwich, Cosmic Ray's, Pizzafari, Flame Tree BBQ and the Pepper Market. If you are on the dining plan the Pepper Market at Coronado Springs is a really great deal.

The family favorites:
Chef Mickey's, Beaches & Cream, Spoodles, 1900 Park Fare (buffet way above average), Amerkush (or something similiar - the restaurant in Norway in EPCOT)

Least favorites:
Boma (good to try - and I would personally go back but the family (kids are 5 and 8) probably wouldn't
Le Cellier - I wanted to love the place too since I visit Canada occasionally for work - but found the steaks there actually quite mediocre and the service abysmal - at WDW - the best steaks are easily at Shula's in the Swan or Dolphin...horrible Beaver Tails too (the only time I've tried one - I was shocked at the flavor -is this what a B Tail is like?? - give me an Auntie Anne's cinnamon sugar pretzel anyday!
OHanas - but did a character meal there at breakfast - so only know the breakfast food - nothing special but probably not fair to rate on breakfast alone

If it's not too late I have one suggestion that I didn't see mentioned by the other responders. The California Grill at Contemporary Resort. My DFi and I think it's the best restaurant we have ever been to. And we have been to many throughout Ontario and the Eastern United States. The ambiance is quiet, but entertaining with its open concept. The food was outstanding. The view of MK perfect.
