Dear Disboards, we need to break up. It’s not you. It’s me.

Thank you for the many great tips of advice and knowledge through the years, however, my attitude makes it difficult for me to continue our relationship any longer.

You see, I’m an oncology nurse. I spend my days helping people fight through some of their darkest days. I also help transition many to hospice care. I count my blessings every day and am grateful for each day I have my health, my family, my friends, my job. My day to day duties can be overwhelming and often filled with grief. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have the best job in the world.

Disney for me is a way to escape reality, really. It’s a chance for me to hug my family tight, love a beautiful vacation with wonderful sights, sounds, and even smells. When I’m not there I love planning our trip, and visiting sites like yours. I love finding posts with titles like “you know you’ve arrived at WDW when….” or “your greatest WDW memory of your children is…” Sharing the joy other people post is fun. Living vicariously through someone else’s trip report is great. These are the things that make me smile.

Of late I’ve mainly seen many posts venting about fast pass, magic band colors, food critiques, parades that ‘might’ be cancelled…. Visiting this site is not as happy for me as it used to be.

So you see, it’s not you, it’s me. I don’t worry much about fast pass, we’ll still get on rides I’m sure. Whatever color I get for a magic band is okay. We usually go to the restaurants for the experience and atmosphere, not the food. If one parade is cancelled one night, I’ll find another.

I have my health. I have my family. I have the ability to afford a vacation to WDW. And for all of these I am immensely blessed. My patients have always taught me not to take a single day for granted.

Flames may come my way. And I’m okay with that, because you see, It’s not you. It’s me.

1. Bravo. This needed to be said.

2. This is just an internet board where people can talk and complain about meaningless junk. So at least its the right forum. I assume most folks don't let these things effect their everyday lives. (Goodness I certainly hope not...) Its a good place to vent about trivial changes.

You perspective is appreciated.

Where's a clapping hands smilie?

I've been thinking the same for a while.

Totally agree! I took a break over a year ago, and it was much needed. Life can change in a moment. Be thankful for your blessings. :thumbsup2

Two BIG THUMBS UP. Way to look for the good in all the situations you come across.

Thank you so much for your post. I found my disney passion renewed after serving in Iraq. Some people just need to put things in perspective. Thank you for saying what I have been thinking for quite some time now. Hopefully in a few months the complaints will die out as the system gets more efficient. I hope you can just take a break from the boards and we see you back soon.

I find this post extremely arrogant and condescending. But that's just me, not you.

:thumbsup2

You see, this is a board entirely about Disney, and by extension pretty much only trivial things.

:thumbsup2 +2

Have you tried the Trip Reports board? There's less venting there. But I have to say, I'm sick of random people deciding what other people should and should not be allowed to discuss/complain/vent about. I find it hard to believe that there's anyone on these boards who doesn't know there are bigger problems in this world than ADRs/MBs/FP+, but this is a Disney message board where we discuss planning Disney trips. When Disney changes things in a big way, people are going to want to discuss them.

Well said! I have thought your thoughts before. I have come to stop reading negative threads and posts because I too also realize that it is not the end of the world and if anything find it ruins my trips more so worrying about every little detail.

Your so tired of all the posts that are whining and complaining that you needed to add your own personal whining and complaining thread? :confused3

Hope you find somewhere else to rest your touch pad that's more to your liking.

Agree.
Op, I'm a nurse too. I get what you're saying on a certain level. Sometimes posters have over-the-top complaints over what I think are very trivial things. But guess what? That's their business. If I don't want to deal with those things, I avoid those threads.

I totally get what you are saying nharding20 :thumbsup2 I come to these boards to read a variety of takes on the parks, food, FP, etc - but I can only take so much of the constant complaining, criticism of others for voicing their opinions (look at post #7 for an example) and just general discontent with all things old or new:(.

Am I going to stop looking and reading the "DIS"boards - nope - but I will continue to make my contributions cautiously! If I have something helpful to post - I will. If I don't agree with something - I MIGHT debate it or offer an opposing view point - BUT come on people - what does it hurt to show some common courtesy to others who area doing the same:hug:
