Hello and welcome fellow Disers' from the Great Lake State of Michigan! Where it's cold enough in the winter to make your nostrils freeze together or hot enough in the summer to melt you into a puddle of sludge!
Thought I'd put my 2 cents in and do a little pre-trip report....BEWARE! I'm not as witty or as descriptively "wordy" as some of you others out there, but I'm going to give it the ole college try!
My DH and I (51 and 48 yrs respectively) usually do our vacationing in the City of Sin - Las Vegas!
But, since we've been there 5 times in the last year and a half, I thought it was time that we went somewhere where my butt wasn't glued to a chair at a slot machine!
And I always lose! I probably could have funded at least 4 WDW trips on what I've lost in Vegas. Anyhoosie, I haven't been to the World since 2000 and DH has NEVER been,
I thought, hey! Let's go to the happiest place on earth!
A little background: I work in a prison in the health care department about 40 miles from our home. I have just started working 10 hour days. This means I leave home about 5 am and get home after 5 pm. This makes for a very long day let me tell you! DH is a welder and has been working 10 hr days 7 days a week...
So you can see why it is we need a vacation! Oh, and we are also in the process of moving, which won't be completed until the middle of Oct! I don't know about YOU, but I absolutely DETEST moving!
After wandering around the DIS, I decided to go to Small World Travel's website and see about booking. As it turned out, Lori was GREAT and took care of our reservations. We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside for 4 nights, Nov 14-18 with just the basic MYW tickets. We figure if we want, we can upgrade to Park Hoppers once we get there. I've asked Lori to see if she can request a room in The Mansions, but I know that this might not be possible and I'm ok with that. My DH and I are very easy to please and usually just "go with the flow".
We aren't big eaters, so we didn't go with the dining plan. I have made two ADR's:
1) Rose and Crown at Epocot, hopefully on the patio to eat and watch Illuminations. Once again, I'm certainly not counting on this but "please oh please, oh pleast nice CM's, have pity of me"!
2) Breakfast at Crystal Palace. Yep, I know it's a character breakfast, but DH and I consider ourselves characters so we should fit right in! We both like the Pooh characters and we both like breakfast...I think it will be lot's of fun!
Where else we'll eat is anyone's guess. It'll depend on where we are at the time we get hungry. I like 50's Prime Time, so maybe there when we're at MGM Studios (you can't make me say Hollywood Studios cuz you're not the boss of me!)
I do know one thing tho....and this is very, very important. The one thing I MUST have, and I mean MUST..is............
FUNNEL CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yummy and ooooooooooooo so yummy! I love it!
Don't find it around here in these parts unless you take in a county fair, which I don't. I already know where I can find them in MK and in Epcot....anyone who's there when I am can find me by following the drool to funnel cakes!
I love Typhoon Lagoon, but unfortunately that will be closed for rehab while we're there. So it's Blizzard Beach for 1/2 day...I've never been here and I hope it's just as much fun as TL.
Haven't been on Expedition Everest, Soarin, or Mission: Space so they're tops on the list. Although, I might not do MS since I'm afraid it might make me queasy.
And of course, it's going to be so much fun on all the "regulars" since DH has never been.
I've already ordered and received two screen T-shirts from Disney Shopping. What a deal! $5 a piece! DH got "Grumpy" (I don't know why, he's never grumpy) and I got Eyore. They are really great shirts for $5!!!!
So we'll be wearing those on our trip down to get us in the spirit! Really would like to find Mickey's wizard hat while we're there. I'm sure we can find them in MGM somewhere.
So.....there it is.....my PTR......I know it wasn't fall down interesting, but at least it didn't put you to sleep....did it? HEY!!!!! WAKE UP!!!!!
I may be adding more as time draws closer. All comments, hints, suggestions and even insults are welcome!
Cheers!
Kim
