we need a microwave at Pop

Actually, if you read this closely it states 'you could have a microwave in your room'..........could being the operative word, because you COULD have one in your room -- e.g. the DVC resorts.

Could = possibility versus Allowed = permitted

Been there done that...Moms Panel is NOT official Disney web site....this was discussed W A Y W A Y back in the thread...

OP: Do what you want. In the end it is between you and Disney and no one else. If Disney has a problem with it they will ask you to remove it.

yeah, read it already thanks -- the first thing that hit me was the verbage & was surprised none of the Dis English profs picked up on it --

& hmmm --- nope, don't think anything in my post indicated I thought the Mom's Panel was the official Disney Web Site :scratchin:

Uh oh! She asked housekeeping? No offense, but um, no. Housekeeping doesn't make the rules. This is not good. You need an informed answer, and the Disney Execs have all ready said "no." Sorry.

And I repeat myself.

1.) You tell the OP to phone and ask.
2.) The OP phones the # you provide and asks.
3.) You ridicule her for believing what they told her when she calls.

Seriously. Why argue every little thing. :confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Housekeeping at least works at WDW. You don't. I would take their word over yours any day. :snooty:

Such a dumb thing to argue about. Of course I think taking a microwave is dumb too.

Wow.. just read this whole thread. Me personally... I'd tell my dh to get bent and walk his butt to the food court and use their microwave.

Are you sure??? I'm starting a camp oven swap with a bonus fondue pot. Sounds tempting doesn't it?

fondue pot.. why didnt u say so!! i can use it to make hotdogs..
use my flat iron to make fries. and then toast the bun with my hair dryer!

hahahahpopcorn::

If she's not driving, then I want to know her secret for getting her microwave on an airplane!

I flew with a microwave on an airplane about 4 years ago -- long story, don't ask.

They(airline) were fine with it. It came in the original box and I had to sign a form saying they would not replace it if it got broken in transit. I checked it in it's original box with my luggage. It did not break and it's still at it's destination working fine as far as I know.

and fwiw no one that I recall said a toaster wasn't allowed...I have personally been involved in the POP Swap (original) fridge, toaster, coffee pot

well, several posters have said any food that requires heating wasn't allowed and since a toaster only works with food that is required being heated........

:rotfl2: so would I...this thread has gone on so long did OP leave for vacation yet ? :rotfl:

For the record I did not heat any food...I kept the toaster unplugged and kept my sparkly Mickey Ears headband in the slots :rolleyes1 good night all...its been fun

Just chiming in- I have no idea if microwaves are allowed, but I have had neighbors at a Value resort who smoked in their room ( before smoking in-room was officially banned) and I could smell it-it was horrible for someone like myself who is extremely sensitive to smoke. For guests who are sensitive to odors, I can attest to the fact that cooking/smoking aromas will waft through the vents and it would be obnoxious to those guests. Ugh. ---Kathy

I wish that Disney hotel rooms had microwaves. You can find them nowadays at low cost hotel chains so it's odd that Disney rooms have so little. I just want one to heat water for tea so no odors from me. :)

How about adding a washer/dryer...save money on laundry while at Disney. Include a recipe for homemade laundry detergent, bet they'll be a lot of takers :lmao:

A washer would be fine but you don't need a dryer. Just put the wet undies one by one in the micro and nuke them until they are dry.:thumbsup2

i've already stated that i would go with the printed disney website. that said, i do think that statements about burning down a resort are pretty ridiculous. if the resort is that fragile, the electricity that close to overload, there are bigger problems than a little microwave.

If you do decide to take device not approved by Disney I would contact my insurance and ask if they cover a billion claim for burning down a resort.

Surely you jest!

This is a prime example of what I mean about being bullied into submission with scare tactics.

She's not going to burn down the resort with a microwave.... and if she did, it was due to faulty resort wiring.

Earlier in this thread I showed that a small microwave uses less wattage than a hair dryer...... and I'm sure just about every room has a hair dryer.

This thread is just getting old...

Not neccessarily, appliances have been known to have faulty wiring and if the room occupant brought their "own" microwave to the resort then they would be responsible in the event of a fire, I should think for damages.
