We missed Castaway Cay :(

We have been lucky enough to make CC each of our sailings, but had we not I would be disappointed. That said...lets look at what happened here these events were medical emergencies!!
People please, I know you have scrimped and saved and that this is your vacation but ....remember "There but for the grace of God go I"
I could never imagine be left off a cruise ship with my young family to face the unknown during a medical emergency. The stress of not knowing how your loved one is doing and not knowing the capabilites of the medical staff around you must seem unsurmountable at that moment.

I hope for the families that these emergencies were treated properly and that they will be able to return to the US with a complete and much happier family than when they were left on some foreign soil to face the unknown.

I have a friend who lost her husband in Puerto Rico about 10 years ago, she was faced with dealing with a sub par medical staff, sub par medical facilities and the task of flying home his remains. This was in Pierto Rico---the place they take many medical emergencies in the Carribbean as they are known to have better facilites and staffs then most of the islands! I pray that I never have to make that trip.

While the medical emergency is always the proirity, I just think how much worse then a regular passenger the brides that were scheduled to be married on Castaay Cay those days felt.

All that time planning and to end up paying the extra $1,000 to get married on the beach and no refund. On top of that they end up getting married on the boat and no refund on any additional flowers that you purchased for the beach either. All that money wasted and they don't give a refund for bad weather.

Wow, they don't give you anything? Safety first, and it's not necessarily Disney's fault that they can't dock, but nothing? The page advertising Castaway Cay ceremonies (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/packages/wedding-vow-renewal/) says *nothing* about weather. That's highly misleading. I doubt they'd be able to get $1,000 if they admitted up front what the cancellation rate was.

We had a VR ceremony on the Magic. It is $1000 more to get married there but we were advised we would be refunded the $1000.00 if we had to get married on the ship. Although that doesn't help the couple who were looking forward to getting married on the island...it's a chance we take when we book the VR.

I have been reading this information and was wondering if anyone has been too...you see, I was recently on CC (April 29th) and life guards kept looking for an individual...then after about 5 minutes a Coast Guard chopper landed on the dock next to the ship. I never heard any more on the topic and the chopper left after about 15 minutes, around the time the life guards stopped asking to find the person...anyone here anything or know anything about this?
