Yes, you read correctly, we made our 9yo DD pay the deposit on our upcoming Disney trip, lol. Actually, it was her idea. See, she came home from school last month, with a big ole grin on her face and a wicked little smile. " Mommy, I know how we are getting to Disney! I am going to do a survey for school AND get paid for it!" Huh???? Our school district is doing a really big push on healthy foods and eating, and the Cooper Health Institute, was running a research program on what the kids eat every day for 7 days. This was for 3rd through 5th grade (she is in 4th) and at the end of the program the families that participated in it would receive a VISA gift card for 125.00!!! She was on cloud 9!!!!
Each day for the next 7 days she diligently wrote everything she ate and drank, how much, how big, name brand, homemade, or fast food. She was LOVIN it!!!
On the last day, she turned in her papers to the researcher and I received a call from her teacher who kindly informed me that my daughter, with hands on hip, said: " So, when do I get my money??? I am going to Disney!!!"
I didn't know if I should laugh or cry or be horrified that my kid even talked to them like that!
So, last week, while the rest of the state was frozen, LoneStar was at the door, and Little Miss received her gift card. She immediately wanted to book our trip right then and there, but we have to wait till the 15th.
We will be heading back to the World on December 21 til Dec 27, 2011. This will be my 4th time going and my DH, Ds, and DD's second time.
We went to Disney in 2009, and I got to see Disney through the eyes of first-timers and it was the most magical of all experiences. I made all three of them wait till I was around the corner before I let them see the Castle so I could video their response. I cried for 20 mins while my family stood at the top of Main Street in pure awe. It was an amazing sight for me.
So, since I have exactly.........316 days, 9 Hours and 21 mins till we leave, I guess I will introduce this crazy cast.
First is Me: Amy, born and raised in NJ, and transplanted in Mckinney Texas. Not sure how that exactly happened, but TX is now home although Jersey will always be "home".
Second is DH: Adrian, the man who puts up with my mood swings and over all pre menapausal ups and downs. We were both previously married, he having no children from his first and I have three children, but the way the little ones act you would think that he was their biological dad.
Next up is my beautiful soon to be 16 y/o. She lives in NJ with her dad and may or may not be with us on this trip. She bailed last trip because of school and sports, so we will see.
Next, my handsome mischevious 11y/o soon to be 12 y/o son, who happens to be home from school today with a double ear infection. My 11 y/o who so wants to be a man but is yet still so much a little boy. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up, but he also wants to destroy his sisters toys, lol. Picture Sid form Toy Story. He is my charmer and the one my mother cursed me with, lol/
Then finally, last but not least, my little bit of sunshine, my 9 y/o daughter. She is just the sweetest thing you could ever want to meet. I know I am being biased, since she is my kid, but she really is a good kid. I am truly blessed to have her.. She could get Scrooge to smile!
I would post pics, but I haven't figured that out yet, so if someone would be so kind as to tell me how to do that, I can put a face to the names.
