We all got together and made our countdown until Disney. The kids each got some Disney stickers, we made a big calendar and the kids are taking turns putting stickers over days of the calendar. Doing that yesterday made it feel like its not that long of a wait (or just wishful thinking, lol) :teeth:

I love countdowns! It feels so official to be able to lay it out on paper!. I thought I ws the only one paying attention to ours but DD reminded me that I forgot to remove a link from our paper chain when we got up this AM! She is getting bitten by the Disney bug! (I think we need a smilie depicting the Disney bug if anyone with authority reads this post!)

How do you get the countdown with the exact amount of days left in your signature? I get months and weeks in ours.

We don't have too many more days however, I think for these last few weeks I'm going to make a count down chain that they can take off one link every morning, it might help time go faster for them. Also, this Wed. we have Disney on Ice tickets to see Jungle Adventure which might help also, then Easter...I think they'll be busy.

Good idea! I think we'll start ours after summer is over since we're not going until November.

thanks to some great ideas from this site, we made our favorite calendar yet this weekend (one month to go!!)...

-we made a calendar on a piece of posterboard and hang on the wall in the kitchen (nothin' subtle about us waiting to go!!!!)

-i then cut out mickey-head -shaped pieces of paper just big enough to almost cover one day's square and had the kids color them

-i printed out pictures of rides/shows/characters from both our pictures from previous trips and some really wonderful pictures posted here in the photo forum (i have "photo wizard" which allows me to print out 35 "contact" prints per page...very small, but big enough for the kids to see them, and small enough for our calendar)

-i glue a picture in the middle of each day's square (the kids aren't allowed to peek while i'm doing this!), and then cover the picture with a mickey-head cutout (stuck on the calendar by a small loop of tape).

-the kids now get to take turns pulling off one mickey head per day to countdown AND each day they get to be reminded of one more thing they will be doing when we get there!!! this is so perfect for their age (3 1/2)...yesterday they uncovered a beautiful pic. that someone here posted of fireworks over space mountain--they've never ridden space mtn., but have seen video and understand that it's a roller coaster and last night were playing "space mountain ride" by running around the house and yelling "loop-de-loop!" and doing circles...so cute!!

have fun, everyone!

For the TickerFactory tickers we both have it had to be under a month before it went to days. Now I see that the Ticker Central ones do days the whole time. I prefer days too! Guess I'll use the other kind on our next trip!

We use both a calendar and a chain. I bought a Disney print creations program to make mine. The kids get to mark off the days, and when all the days on the month are marked off, they get to cut a link off the chain. At the bottom corner of each day, I put their age so that they could keep up with whose day it is. They have the same initials, so I couldn't put those. I made the chain with the same program. The top is shaped like Mickey's head. It says countdown to Disney, the dates we will be there, and pictures. Then the links have the month, or numbered date, for us to use once we get down to October. Also, the number or month is surrounded by more Mickey heads. I put their age on those as well.

I know of two sites that get the countdown to days. Although, you can't use them in your signature.
www.laughingplace.com The other one goes down to the minutes and sec's. That one is www.ourlaughingplace.com.
