thanks to some great ideas from this site, we made our favorite calendar yet this weekend (one month to go!!)...
-we made a calendar on a piece of posterboard and hang on the wall in the kitchen (nothin' subtle about us waiting to go!!!!)
-i then cut out mickey-head -shaped pieces of paper just big enough to almost cover one day's square and had the kids color them
-i printed out pictures of rides/shows/characters from both our pictures from previous trips and some really wonderful pictures posted here in the photo forum (i have "photo wizard" which allows me to print out 35 "contact" prints per page...very small, but big enough for the kids to see them, and small enough for our calendar)
-i glue a picture in the middle of each day's square (the kids aren't allowed to peek while i'm doing this!), and then cover the picture with a mickey-head cutout (stuck on the calendar by a small loop of tape).
-the kids now get to take turns pulling off one mickey head per day to countdown AND each day they get to be reminded of one more thing they will be doing when we get there!!! this is so perfect for their age (3 1/2)...yesterday they uncovered a beautiful pic. that someone here posted of fireworks over space mountain--they've never ridden space mtn., but have seen video and understand that it's a roller coaster and last night were playing "space mountain ride" by running around the house and yelling "loop-de-loop!" and doing circles...so cute!!
have fun, everyone!
