A new Cuban-themed restaurant is expected to join the Pointe Orlando entertainment and shopping district this fall.
Called Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar, the eatery will serve traditional Cuban dishes and modern interpretations of the island's cuisine. It will also feature indoor and outdoor bars, a large patio, two dance floors and three private rooms. Late night entertainment will be offered, including Latin-themed floor shows, salsa dancing and DJs spinning Latin dance music.
Located within walking distance of the Orange County Convention Center, the Pointe Orlando complex has transformed recently into a major dining destination. Restaurants that have opened in the center during the past few years include The Capital Grille steakhouse, The Oceanaire Seafood Room, Maggiano's Little Italy and Taverna Opa to name a few.
In total, the Cuba Libre restaurant will take up about 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space at the complex with seating for about 500 customers. The restaurant's interior will be designed to reference the historic district of Havana including Spanish Colonial, Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture.
Cuba Libre is owned by Libre Management and the Orlando spot will be the third Cuba Libre to open in the U.S. The other two locations are in Philadelphia and Atlantic City, N.J.
