We stayed at the Hard Rock club level last week and absolutely loved it! I know the Portofino has many supporters on this board, but for us, the Hard Rock is the only way to go.

Things we loved about the HRH

Proximity to the parks:
I left my confirmation number for our annual passes at the hotel and didn't realize it until we arrived at Universal:( , but it only took about 10 minutes to walk back, get what I needed and come back to Universal. It seems to be much quicker to walk than take the water taxi.

Employees:
Some of the best employees we have encountered. When we checked in, we were assigned a King size room, because there were two of us on the reservation. We checked in on 11/28 and the club level was booked. First they offered to put us on another floor with Club priviledges, but with 3 kids, I wasn't real happy about that. Two front desk employees and an employee from club leved worked and worked to get us a room--one with a beautiful pool view and two beds on the club level.

We also met a wonderful employee, Jorge. I believe he worked with the valet staff. Everytime we came out front, he greated us by name, asked how we were enjoying our stay and generally went out of his way to be accomodating.

The beauty and hipness of the hotel:
There is nothing like coming out of the elevator at 6:30 am on the first floor with the Eagle's Hotel California playing and not another soul around. I felt like I was a star and the hotel was my home. I have never been to another hotel that I thought was more cool.

The pool:
We didn't use the pool, but it looked awesome!

I love the HRH and cannot wait to go back! Please don't let reports of poor service, deter you from staying there. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

HRH seems to be the most popular of the 3 hotels. it was booked out on the few days just after Thanksgiving

That is exactly the effect the hotel's designers were going for.

The "backstory" is that the hotel is in a mansion owned by a rock star down on his luck, so he's had to take in paying guests!

Great review!
