We ate there for the first time last week and had a blast! We did not have reservations and showed up around 6 p.m. on Friday night. We waited for about 10 minutes. We were going to be seated in the ice room but dd (7) didn't like it so they moved us to the Fire room. Our server was wonderful but had to leave shortly as she was having contractions and was going to the hospital. She wanted to know if we needed anything before she left - we told her no, just go have the baby!! Our next server was just as sweet. I had the chicken in the fried pizza dough (not the healthiest thing) but it was so good (as were the chips). DD had her usual - chicken nuggets and probably ate 2 of them - again, her usual. I forget what DH had - I'm sure it was some time of steak - he devoured it so it must have been good. We did not have dessert. We did not do the build a dino (thank goodness dd didn't see that!!) and we never made it to the gift shop because dd wanted to go to the Lego store. It is noisy (like the Rainforest) but we're used to noise so it didn't bother us. Even in the fire room it was cold. But I think everywhere at Disney is cold inside. When we left around 7:15 the place was packed and we heard the wait without a reservation was an hour. I thought they were very accommodating as several families requested different rooms and they did their best to seat them where they wanted. We would go back.

We went on 8/27. Loved it. I just wish it was on the DDP. We ate in the Ice Age Room . It was Awesome.:thumbsup2 Would definately go back.

We LOVED T-Rex! We ate here 9/5 for my sons bday-it was awesome! The food was good, the atmosphere great. As for the noise...it was just as loud as any character meal I've been to!

We plan to go back again in November!

We went in Feb 2009 at 3:30....no reservations. Sat at the bar and had a drink and it was not busy at that time. Was able to walk around and take pictures without bothering anybody.

Also just returned from another trip with two grandsons (6 & 10 years old) with reservations at 3:00 on 10/5. Again, not busy. The boys were able to see and touch the dinos and I got some good pictures. We were seated in the Ice Room. Service was outstanding. DH had the roast beef sandwich, I had chicken salad sandwich and the boys had mac & cheese. Everything was yummy. Portions were generous. We were so full we couldn't manage dessert. (I wanted to try the chocolate extinction) :)

We then went to the gift shop and both boys did the Build-a-Dino. No wait time! The girl who helped them stuff the dinos was great and they had a wonderful experience.

I had Landry gift cards ($115 dollars worth) so with the meal, one alcohol drink, tip, and two Build-a-Dino's plus two shirts and two hats for the dinos...we only paid $29.00 out of pocket.

The kids LOVED the Build-a-Dino's.

Oh, I totally loved TRex when we went in Feb!!! Fantastic pics, RFrank!!!!! We really just cannot wait to go again in Nov. I still remember our server's name was Bruce, and DD gave his service a "10".

We didn't have dessert last time either, but this time we are going to get the chocolate extinction for the table. DD loves something coming to the table with dry ice "smoke" coming off of it, so I'm sure that will be a highlight for her. She built a dino last time, which she totally loved. I imagine we'll do it again. It's expensive, but they are beautiful and it would be kinda neat to start a collection of them for every time we go to WDW (as I imagine TRex is a must-do for us every trip now). Our first dino is a green one named "Tink".

Glad you had just as great an experience, OP!!!

Flame retardant suit on....check:thumbsup2, I heard alot about the place, but after trying it in September, I still prefer the Rainforest, But hey that just means another reservation spot for you.:) It seemed like our food was fine, server was fine, It seemed ALOT more expensive than the Rainforest, Our heart belongs to the Rainforest. Just a mental note, since T-Rex is owned by Landrys, your Rainforest Safari Club discount works at T-REX:thumbsup2

Some people get wigged out by the lighting in the Ice Room, and I can see why. Especially when it turns blue - I walked through the room at that point and thought "Oh, man, I don't think I could sit in here for an hour."

But we really enjoyed the place - every 20 minutes, all the dinos come alive at the same time, and things get a little crazy.

Well, my son is 13 and I wish they had built it when he was younger, he would have loved the build a dino. We thouroughly enjoyed dinner, all 4 of us. We each had something different, all well cooked and served in a timely manor. The cheese dip is delicious and the Pot Pie easily feeds two people. We have to go back, we were just too stuffed to order the flaming sputtering dessertr, but in February we're there.

We are going to T-Rex on 11/4 for my son's 7th birthday. We also have a 4 year old boy who might be afraid of some of the things. Does anyone have any suggestions of what room to sit in? :wizard: can we walk around prior to our 7:45 ressie to check out the rooms? I would like this to be enjoyable for both my boys.:cheer2:

The front room - not sure of its name - features an adult and baby woolly mammoth - maybe a bit less threatening than the full-on dinos. There are a couple tables right next to the baby, which is really cute. Instead of roaring, I think he makes an "attempt" at a roar that is amusing. Or maybe he was entirely silent, it's hard to remember what my imagination was doing, and what he was really doing.

I totally agree. We walked through the Ice Room on the way to the restrooms and I thought the exact same thing.
We ate there for lunch this past June and LOVED it. Our DS loves anything and everything Dinos so he was sooooo excited to eat here. It did NOT dissapoint. We have eaten at RFC many times ( we have one here close to home) and the theming is fun but we have always found the food just ok...
TRex exceeded our expectations on many levels. Theming is AMAZING! Yes, it can be loud..but when you eat somewhere that you know has animatronic dinos...shouldn't be too surprising! ;) The food was also excellent. The service was great. Our kids loved the gift shop (surprise;)) and they loved the area outside where you can dig up dino bones.
We are heading back in Dec! :)

We loved it. My 2 year old DS thought it was the best.

I was really surprised that I liked the food as much as I did. Our table tried the ribs and chicken, as well as a bunch of the sides and everything was really yummy. A little slow to bring our dinners, but it was worth it.

We ate in the fire room where the wooly mammoth and baby were. It wasn't too noisy except the meteor shower starts in there which was pretty loud. That happens every 20 minutes. But nothing really moves around a lot. We started out in the ice room but the changing lights freaked my dd (and psychologically it did feel very cold in there :)). We were encouraged to walk about the restaurant once we were seated to look at the other rooms. They don't encourage that before dinner as you need to stay where you can hear them call your name.

FYI, Rainforest Safari Club discount only works in gift shop and dining, NOT the Build-A-Dino.

It really was awesome! My husband got some good shots of the restaurant and the food we ate...check out my trip report if you want to see. I'd definitely eat there again!

I am glad i read this. we have been wanting to try it but it seems everything that we have read has been negative. We are going in 3 weeks and are getting in town 1 day before the rest of our family. I think you just helped me decide where we are going to eat.
