Why do I feel compelled to do the cruise when we just love our DVC vacations? We already get our ocean fixes at VBR/Hilton head and the WDW resorts allow for more activities/"excursions" than we could ever hope to complete. Why stay in smaller room with a less flexible agenda than what we could plan ourselves? For the cost of a 7 day cruise, one could do a very swell add on that would take care of decades of Disney fun rather than just a week. Interested your Pro/Con thoughts of the value of DCL relative to DVC.

We are always feeling the same way and keep talking ourselves out of it. Cruising is so pampering though. The resorts if you do parks almost feels like work. It's the pampering. Definately the pampering. Our solution. The minute we buy an AP there will be no non-resort vacations. But then that leaves out HH & VB too. :guilty:

We will be cruising for the first timein Dec 06 not that I really care to but the rest of the group wants to so my 1 vote gets quashed by the other 21 votes. We just rented our points out to pay for it and we still have points enough to stay a week before and a week after so it is all good I still get my Disney fix in.

I have been on two Disney cruises, one three day and one four day, and I can't wait for a 7 day. They are wonderful!!!!!! There is so much to do, even if you never leave the boat. I have been to first run movies, been to a cooking class to make a really fun and great desert, played with my daughter at the pool, went swimming, at ice cream (it's free you know), and so much more. I can't recommend it enough. We did pay cash, though. I rented the points and paid cash for the cruise, with money left over and an upgrade in cabin from what I would have gotten had I used points. Do it! You will love it! The food is amazing, there is cool stuff to do, and Disney's island is great! Like I said, I'm looking forward to a 7 day cruise!

You wanna go cruising? Rent a pontoon boat at WL and take it out on Bay Lake for an hour. That ought to get that out of your system. :teeth:

Then return to the place you belong....in front of Old Faithful surrounded by nature's best views and theming! :)

Hi,

Mom & I will always cruise with DCL but we won't be using points. Takes too many when you could use those points to do something before or after or something seprate from the cruise.

Cruised with DH and DS16 on the Eastern Magic in Feb 05. This was the best vacation I've ever had -- tons to do, or nothing, good food, chance to see movies, get a massage, and love being rocked to sleep at night. Castaway Cay was gorgeous. While I love my Orlando vacations, too, we'll be cruising again in 2007. (I pay for these in cash)

We really enjoyed our cruise and have another one booked for 2006. We don't have enough points for Disney they way we want to do it every year, so on alternatate years we bought intending to do something different. A year ago it was the cruise. We had such a good time, we decided to do it one more time. Then we hope to be able to pull ourselves away for other places. (We feel the kids are still too young to enjoy Washington DC).

The cruise is a very different experience. Lots of relaxing, lots of food. Its nice to do something different.

We love our DVC stays (WDW and HHI) but also love to go cruising. There is just something about being on a cruise. My favorite activity is just sitting out on our balcony, relaxing, reading and watching the ocean go by. But we also love the ports. We've been on six cruises and looking forward to many more. We've never been on a DCL cruise before. I'd like to do one, but I wouldn't want to use points and the rates are really high compared to other cruise lines. Our favorite cruise line is Princess and our favorite cruise was Alaska last year on the Diamond Princess. After I retire next year, I'm thinking we'll be doing (hopefully) a cruise a year plus a week at HHI plus a week at WDW (or possibly an occasional II exchange). Life is good.

Tough question, and I sure won't be able to help talk you OUT of cruising.

The main thing that would have gone AGAINST our joining DVC last month was that DW and I love cruising. We honeymooned on a 13-day Mediterranean cruise (splurge!) and have since gone on 3 Western Caribbean, 1 New England, and 1 4-day DCL. And we're not 40 yo yet... Cruiseaholics...

We're going to really miss cruising; on the other hand, with DD11mo and DD3, we figured that we wouldn't be doing anything but DCL for a bunch of years anyhow. But I can't wait until they're old enough to do the Caribbean!
