We (me, DH, DS4, DS3) just returned from a short trip to DL. We stayed at the Grand Californian which is gorgeous. We had a Downtown Disney view which we loved. My boys loved to go on the balcony and peoplewatch. We watched the fireworks from our room. We loved being able to walk to both parks. It was so nice to be able to load up our stroller and not have to worry about taking all the stuff out to fold it to get on a bus.

DL was so much fun. It's much more manageable than MK. We like the rides better, too. One of our favorite rides was the Casey Jr. train. We utilized early entry on Thursday which was worth it. We were able to do all the rides we wanted to by 10:30am. Then we had lunch (at Hungry Bear, which was excellent--Thank you Dis boards!) and headed over to DCA for Aladdin. Aladdin is really a fantastic show. I think it was worth the admission to see it. The boys' favorite ride was the new Monsters, Inc. ride. There is usually a long wait for that one.

We ate at Napa Rose on our first night and it was fantastic. The next night we ate at Ralph Brennan's. The food was pretty good but the service was horrible.

On our last day, my in-laws took the boys to Legoland. I noticed at a local grocery store there, Pavilions, in the gift card center (where they have all those giftcards to places like Gap, Borders, etc), they had tickets for Legoland. A child/senior ticket was $30.95 which was better than the $32.95 I paid at Costco.

I am now trying to figure out when we can go again. The boys didn't want to leave. I just wish the flight wasn't so long.

Glad you had a graet trip! We are going to DL for a three day weekend in June- What restaurant would you recommend for upscale (but OK with kids) dining? I am so disappointed that Blue Bayou will be closed. We are staying at the Grand California also- any tips are appreciated!

Thanks! :Pinkbounc

Glad you had so much fun on your trip! I was just imagining all the places you went as you described them. I finally went on Casey's Jr. Train this year after many years of avoiding it. It's one of my favorites now too!

I would consider Storytellers for a nice dinner. There are nicer places, but Storytellers is probably the more family friendly. You can either order off the menu or they have a nightly dinner buffet. My husband really liked the buffet, as it has prime rib and he was able to go back 2-3 times for more. :teeth: I had a burger for dinner that night. It was good, but a bit dry. Anyway, its better then anything you would find in the park, but not so nice that you would have to worry about the kids.
