We love AKL - Would we like WL??

Hiya,

Thinking about squeezing a 3rd trip out of the APs...last time we downgraded to ASMo and wished we'd stayed at AKL. We love the atmosphere, the lobby, the animals, BOMA, and the dark hallways and awesome rooms.

I've never been to WL but I hear it's similar to AKL in a lot of ways. Since these are the cheapest Deluxe Resorts, we're limited in choice to these two unless I win the lottery.

Any AKL lovers out there who love/hate WL??

We love both!

We will be visiting both this year - AKL in June, WL in December.

You may miss the animals while at WL, but the closeness to MK and the availability of water activities makes up for it in my opinion.

The actual rooms are basically the same, just have different "decorations".

The WL common areas are simply beautiful. Go to the WL part 5 faq post, 1st page for lots of pictures.

It's also very easy to hop to the other MK resorts. There is a small boat that takes you to CR & FW. Plus, the FW internal bus (ornage) makes a WL stop so you can enjoy the campfire, etc.

I've never stayed at either, but I've walked around/ate at both. I loved AKL's atmosphere but didn't care for WL. But if the theme appeals to you, then go for it.

Stayed at both and while the WL is very cool, in my opinion it would be a let down after AKL. The bus transportation stinks, the boat transportation is terminally slow, the pool is SMALL and crowded. On the plus, there is the geyser, the lobby expanse is awesome and the grounds are very pretty...But there aren't any animals.

I have stayed at WL and visited AKL. I think you will like it. We loved WL - the theming, restaurants, boat to MK. Give it a try!

Loved AKL on our last stay. Did not care for WL. Agree with Peter Pirate although I loved AKL lobby a lot more. At our stay at WL the big window overlooking the lake was continually fogged up, the laundry room is the pits, the food court very tiny. I just enjoyed the feel and atmosphere of AKL better.

I love both for different reasons. I love the animals and the pool at AKL but I love WL's water activities and ambiance. I think both lobbies are stunning. The food court at WL is really small, Mara's is much better but that is not a major draw for me in choosing a resort. I don't think you will be disappointed at WL as long as you keep your expectations level and not compare too much. Remember, sometimes your experiences have much more to do with your own expectations than with the place itself.... we've all had bad experiences, but we must move on and make the best of them. Enough lecturing... go... enjoy!

we stayed at both during our Honeymoon in 03...first at WL then we moved over to AKL (intentionally).

AKL blew us away...WL was nice...but we'd take AKL any day.

I think we will book AKL and go and visit WL on this trip. That way we can decide if we like it but we'll be sure of staying at a place that we LOVE.
