Wednesday night, very close to midnight I was awakened by my DH telling me to put clothes on, the unit beside us is on fire. We live in a duplex and the couple next door started a fire on their stove and they couldn't control it. It didn't take 10 minutes for their entire unit to go up in flames.
Everyone made it out safely. The fire made it up to the attic and accross to our side. Had the firemen gotten there any later, our side would have been burned down as well. I am so thankful for them.
We have holes in our walls and roof. Major smoke and water damage. I don't think we'll be able to save any of our furniture. I've washed some of the clothing and I was able to remove the smoke smell. Sadly we will never live there again. But everyone got out alive and they are safe. I thank God for that.

the bottom of the pot was completely gone. The fire smothered itself out and was mostly smoke damage. Thankfully our insurance covered everything. Good luck. I hope you have another place you can go! Good luck. Lots of p& pd through your transition. Even though it could have been much worse. Its still tough.
