we lost my dad's laptop

The other day we were going to the store. My dad was at work and he asked us to bring the laptop and we would meet some where so that my mom could give him the laptop. So we were on our way out the door and my mom had the laptop we all walked around to the passangers side (thinking it was open) but it wasn't so my mom put the laptop down and walked around to open the door for us. we all got in the van, drove away and just left it there. We didn't find out that we had lost it until that night. We were all very upset there was over 900.00$ dollars worth of equipment there. The next day my mom went around asking if any one had seen it. She said there was a reward. 4 people had seen it but not one of them had touched it, or at least thats what they say. When my mom told me I remembered that one of the people she had asked had seen us drive away.We really thought that she taken it. About 20 minuts after my mom had asked every one a guy came up to our house it was the girl who had taken the laptops brother. He said that he had found it down at the corner right there we knew that he was lying because we left it all the way on the other side and know one would pick it up walk down to the end of the street and leave it there. He said that he would go get it so he leaves. He didn't come back so my mom goes over and knocks on the door he opens it and say oh yeah I'll go get it. 20 minutes later he comes back with it. So we got it we did have to give him a 50.00 reward but at least we got it. So every things fine now!

Oof.

One of my students' dads' laptop was stolen from under his nose (literally) in the airport in Rome, Italy this past spring...he just put it down by his feet and some guy accidentally bumped into him, and the accomplice or something nabbed the laptop bag and ran off with it. Bummer.

I just got a new laptop a few weeks ago (took long enough...i ordered the darnded thing in June)...I've got my fingers and toes crossed that it doesn't break or get lost (or stolen, like my pocket PC I got for Christmas...it was stolen out of my bookbag at school in March!).

I wish they made chips we could stick on stuff so that we'd know when it gets lost...kind of like the page buttons for phones. I'm one of those people who just can't keep tabs on everything at once, which is sometimes not too much of a bad thing. Except when it comes to technology.

I like your idea Joe it would really help things out especially for people like me, my mom and my sister we can't keep anything lol. And it must have been pretty bad losing your laptop cause you saw the guy steel it and there was nothing you could do about it Anyway hope everything works out with your new laptop. ( ours just broke )

Um, oh it wasn't my <i>laptop</i> that got stolen, it was my student's dad's. And I got my palmtop PC (a very sweet HP Jornada with the built in MP3 player) stolen at school....*rolls eyes* I gotta take my laptop to church and have it blessed or something. That way I'd have less to worry about. LoL.
