We left the snow behind 1/25-2/1 My 1st TR

Joining to hear more about your January trip. I think my next trip will be in January.

Magic Kingdom!

We woke up on Wednesday to wet and cold weather! The weather forecasted a high of 48 degrees F and lots of rain. So we put on our coats (coming from NJ we were ready) and packed our ponchos.

We started a bit late but since we had already been to MK a few times this week and the rain we weren’t in a huge rush. We were at bus stop at 8:30am and were at the park at 8:50. The bus stops have many more people at this time opposed to 8am. So we had a full bus heading to MK.

We were walking into the park while they were playing the opening greeting. We made our way to Frontierland by going through Adventure land. This worked out in our favor because there were no ropes this way but people were being held at the rope at liberty square.

As Josh from easyWDW says..."Feels crowded" lol

We headed to BTMRR because we wanted to ride before the rain. Well while loading it must have started raining, it was no an enjoyable ride with the rain hitting our faces. We were back our front just after 9am and we pulled out our ponchos. We headed to jungle cruise and walked right on. The boat was only about half full when we left the dock. The skipper was funny with her corny and canned jokes. Afterwards headed up to Small World which was a walk on. There was only us and another family in our boat. Drew and I of course had the song in our head the rest of the day. :rotfl:

When got off small world, Peter Pan only had 15 min wait. We had a FP for PP later in the day but I figured even with FP it wouldn't be much shorter. So we could either do PP twice that day or I could change the PP FP for something else. So we got in line and I don't even think we waited 15 mins. After PP we went to Winnie the Pooh. This time I knew to look for Mr. Toad giving Owl the deed.

Then headed to the circus area, which is new to us. I don't really like this area, its a bit cheesy. I feel the same way about this area as I do about the Dino Arcade in AK. It just doesn't feel very Disney to me. Plus I miss Minnie and Mickey's Houses. We walked around the shops (mostly to stay out of the rain) and then walked by the characters circus tent. Both set of characters (Donald/Goofy and Daisy/Minnie) had posted wait of 10 min but Donald/Goofy had no one in line. We jumped in and got Donald's signature and really liked Drew when Drew told him that Donald was #1. We said hi to Goofy again and got a picture. (These pictures aren't very good. We should have taken off our ponchos)

After the characters we went a rode Barnstormer. Which was a walk on and a totally waste of time. It is so short and lacking any trill unless you are under 12. I think its a good coaster for a first time coaster or small children. Then we headed to Tomorrowland and rode the Carousel of progress, which is Drew's favorite ride. Which is funny because the first time he rode it was with me only a few years ago, he never did it as a kid with his family.

the scene with the little girl who never reappears throughout the story....

Then we headed to our(my) FP to meet the princesses. I got Rapunzel's signature and had a great meet. She would bounce over to you in line and greet you, she commented that she liked my braid in my hair. Met Snow White again she was good but not as good as the one at dinner

Then we headed over the little mermaid ride, which again was a first for us. It was good. I was impressed with the length they went with the queue and Eric's Castle. The ride was good too (much better then the nemo one).

Then we headed to our FP for Space mountain...again! lol Then we headed over to the buzz ride. This time I was able to hit a big target and got a better score even though Drew still beat the pants off of me. We got a cute pic...avoid eyes if you don't like mushy love stuff ;)

Then we headed to FP lunch at BOG at 12:20. We checked in at the booth and she sent us down the bridge to another CM. We told the CM we had a FP and he pointed us into the castle. While I was speaking to the CM, Drew heard a woman in the standby line say, "You can't FP food." Well when we walked in, she commented how unfair that was. (Well if she was staying onsite and/or was on this site then she would have known and could have avoided the line for lunch). We waited in line about 10 mins until we got to a kiosk were we ordered our meal (we could have preordered but I had no idea what I wanted to eat 30 days prior lol) Then we went and found seats, we sat in the room with the music box and waited for our food. Drew got the pork dish and strawberry cupcake. I got grilled ham and cheese and the cupcake with the grey stuff. Everything was very good.

Then we headed out of the park for a break and to get dry. But first I wanted to go to the Contemporary Resort and talk a CM at the Wave restaurant about moving our reservation up 2 hours so we would be able to catch Wishes that night. They said it was not a problem and just show up then and they did not want cancel the reservation so we would not be charged. We did not feel like walking back to MK to catch a bus back to our resort(monorail was down) So we waited for a bus to HS then took a bus to our resort (yes this took longer but at least it was dry and we were sitting)

Dinner at The Wave and Wishes?

After an afternoon break we boarded a bus to MK and walked over the Contemporary. We walked in and sat right away. Its a nice restaurant, with an "upscale" look but there isn't much to look at. I picked this restaurant because it is a good bang for your buck on the DDP. We had a fabulous waiter who was fun entertaining. Drew had chicken potpie soup to start, it was good. Drew got flat iron steak for dinner and I got pork tenderloin. It was delish! (Might have been the best dinner I had all week)

For dessert Drew got the Creamy trio; it had chocolate mouse, cheesecake, and hazelnut crème brulee. I got American trio; it had a s'more, bread pudding, and a cherry walnut bar. Everything was good.

After dinner it was about 6:30 and monorail was not up so we took bus to poly to look around and take pictures. The 2nd floor with the restaurants was so crowded and line the to get into the restaurant was VERY LONG!!!! It was almost 7 so we went out to see if monorail was running, it was! It doesn't really feel like a Disney vacation until you take the monorail. So we got on at about 6:55 and headed to MK.

We got to MK at about 8:05 and head to space mountain for one quick ride. We were out front by 8:20 so we went to go find a spot to stand in the rain for wishes. We wanted to be around Casey Corner but people were already there so we headed up into the hub and stood by the coffee cart there until we were told we could not stand there unless we were buying. Therefore we moved over and stood in the rain with our ponchos. The projection show started at 8:40 and it was great!!! We never watched during our previous trips. I really like that they already had a frozen part.

At 8pm wishes started. It was so damp and cloudy most of the fireworks were half covered. So the show was not sooo good. (So no pictures :( ) But it really was the only time for us to see them. We left after wishes. It was very cold and my legs were wet from where my poncho stopped. We headed to bus and waited not too long for a bus. We had to stand on the bus and got back at just before 9.

Beautiful pictures of the castle!! I have watched the parade and wishes from the hub---I wont do that again.

Epcot!

Disclaimer! This post is not overly exciting and there is not a lot of pictures!

Today was another cold and rainy day and we were heading for Epcot. We headed for the buses at 8:20 just missed one so we waited. We were on a bus by 8:30 and at the gate by 8:49 and they let is right at 9. We slowly made our way to Test Track. Drew made the car this time. It took about 15-20 mins to get through and off the ride.
Then we headed to Sum of all Trills which we walked right into. This is the first time for us. It was fun designing our roller coaster, it was pretty mild. It was fun but it kind of made us feel a bit icky (we did have 1-2 loops). Like I mentioned in a previous post we do not do that great with virtual reality rides. Then we hung around Innoventions doing random exhibits . I feel like this area is really good for kids but someone in there 20s...its a bit boring.

Then we headed to Ellen's Energy Adventure and walked right into pre show. I forgot how funny this ride is. Its a bit long and a bit dated but I think it has many good aspects to it. When we got out of Ellen it was 11:10. We headed to figment which was a walk. I don't remember ever riding this ride and it seemed a bit dated but I do not it is a favorite among others. Then we head to Captain EO where we just missed it and had to wait about 15 mins. WOW this was not even worth that wait! This was terrible!!! They need to get rid of this ASAP! I mean Honey I Shrunk the Audience was not great but it was better than Captain EO.

When we got out it was just after 12 and we headed to seasons for lunch. I got pork chop and mashed potato with crème brulee and Drew got spicy cashew chicken with lomein and cheesecake dessert. Drew really like his lunch. I made all the wrong decisions on mine. The pork was okay. It was a bit think and tough and the crème brulee was cold and not very good.

Then we head to our FP Soarin' at 12:45. The post wait was 80 mins and I think we had to wait awhile for our FP. We waited in the back hallway for a bit then we were put into our boarding line. I think it was about 15-20s but I don't remember. We were in row 1 which was awesome because we had no feet in our view!!! I think this ride is very cool and unique! Afterward Drew was feeling a bit icky. I felt fine though.

Afterwards we headed to the showcase and made way around the world. We didn’t do much expect walk around and shop. We watch the video in Canada and got ice cream in France. bought souvenir glasses in Germany for my sister-in-law and her husband. And bought turtle souvenir in Mexico for my sister. Then we headed out of the park for a break. It was about 3pm. We missed a bus and had to wait about 15 mins.

We headed back to Epcot at 6:15 for dinner we stopped at POR on the way, so we were running a bit late. We got to Epcot at 6:55 when we had reservation at 7 at Coral Reef. We walked with a purpose to the restaurant and checked in at 7:01. They said they were a bit behind schedule (about 15mins) we told them that it was not a problem. I also asked if possible to have a table near the aquarium. About 15 mins later we were called and we were sat at the second level but on the edge so we could actually see great! We saw lots of sea life. We saw a couple of sharks, sting rays, and lots of fish of course.

Drew started with a Caesar salad. For dinner he got the Grilled New York Strip Steak, which is a popular choice there. (or at least that is what our waiter told us lol). I got Grilled Mahi Mahi with Laughing Bird Shrimp, Hearts of Palm, Jasmine Rice, Cilantro, and a Coconut-Lime Sauce. We both enjoyed our meals very much. I also ordered the wine that was recommended with the fish. It was as nice and it did compliment the fish nicely.

For dessert Drew got Vanilla Panna Cotta Tart with Florida Key Lime and I got the Chocolate Wave served with Raspberry Gelato. Both were very good, I really liked the Galato.

I don't remember what time we got out of dinner probably 8:30ish. We walked over to Test Track and it was only 10 min wait so we got on. Afterwards we walked over to the Mouse Gear store and then headed out of the park about 9:05. We could see illuminations in the distance. We got on a bus that was waiting and waited for the bus to fill up from the illumination crowd. We got back to resort just before 9:30.

Tomorrow was suppose to be a dry day...lets see if that happened.

Beautiful pictures of the castle!! I have watched the parade and wishes from the hub---I wont do that again.

Yeah I would not recommend the hub as a place to stand I had to look up quite a bit. But it was very slow that day and with the rain the hub was EMPTY!!!!

Headliner at HS! Visiting Coronado Springs. Frozen at Disney!

This is where I stopped taking notes….so I will be going off what was planned out pictures to see if I can remember what we did.

I woke up in a “bad mood” we both got up and were excited about the fact that the forecast said there would be sun today. Well when we looked out the window it was pouring!!! And looked at the forecast for today it said rain ALL day!! So we made sure we had the ponchos and headed out. We were at the bus stop at 8:10am to head to HS. I believed that we went to POR. We still got to HS at 8:25. We chose a line to the side under were there was a roof so we did not have to stand in the rain. Even though the middle rows the lines were shorter but I had enough of standing in the rain lol

They let us in at 8:50 and we headed right to TSM and Drew beat me again but again only by a little bit. Afterwards we head to Rocking Roller Coaster, we walked on, we walked in late to the pre-show and left “early” (the door opened before it was done and since we were standing right there we just walked through to the ride.) After the roller coaster we headed to Tower of Terror and again it was almost a walk on. We went right into the tv room and only waited about 5 mins for an elevator. We walked by the little mermaid and saw the next show was in 5 mins!! Finally we were going to be able to see it. Well after seeing it, I am not sure why I wanted to see it so much. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t very good either. But now I can say we did it. . So it was just after 10 am and Drew could not believe that we did all that in just and hour. I told him we were power touring lol.

It was 10:15sih and we were done with HS so we decided that we would go see Coronado Springs Resort because my sister-in-law is staying there in August. There was a bus at the bus stop but he had to make sure he could bring us back because I guess at 10:30am not too many people want to go back to resorts lol. But he called dispatch and they gave him to ok and off we went. It was a nice resort, the theme was really nice but it was way too big for me. I would not want to walk that far for food.

Because it was still raining we were going to go back to the room, so we went to a bus stop and waited for a bus. The DTD bus pulled up and we got on. On the way there I decided to check movie times just for fun. Fork and screen had Frozen playing at 12 and it was about 11:10. Drew agreed that was a good idea instead of just going back to the room and doing nothing, since it wasn’t exactly a pool day. We got off at the marketplace which I think was a mistake because I think there is another bus stop at DTD but we walked to AMC and bought our tickets. We have never did the dine in movie theater before so we were excited. T

Not a good picture but you can see how there is a bar for you to eat at.

The movie was fantastic, but of course we already knew that since we had already seen it. And the food was okay. I got chicken fingers and I think Drew got wings and a burger. So nothing really that exciting. It was fun having them bring out the food while we were watching. After the movie it was just after 2 I think so we headed back to resort to rest a bit before heading to MK tonight.

Dinner at Be Our Guest!

We grabbed a bus from our resort about 5:15pm and headed to MK. We had a FP for Space from 5-6 so we quickly headed over there but it was down so we headed over to meet Merida from Brave about 5:50pm and was there probably until 615. She was fun and nice. I noticed that when I met her she had her coat on but when we first got in line she did not have it on. She probably put it on because it began raining again while we were in line.

After Merida I went to go find Tiana but we couldn’t find her. I had to ask a CM and he said that only Prince Naveen was meeting but Tiana would be back in the morning. So the Christmas store was right there so we went in and bought the Wall-e ornament that we saw earlier in the week.

We had dinner at 7:20 at Be Our Guest so we headed over and checked in at the booth at 7:10. There were a few people in front of us also trying to check in and they seemed to be having a problem with wanting to check in 2 hours before there reservation. Also heard another girl asking a CM on the bridge how long the wait was. I don't think people realize that this is NOT a walk up restaurant. Anyway they told us to wait on the bridge with a buzzer. I really think they need a place for people to wait better than the bridge, thankful it was not raining at the moment but I would not want to stand there in the cold or rain. They called our name about 5 mins later. A CM greets and they give someone in you party a candelabra so you can "tour" the castle. The hostess takes you around the lobby and the ballroom and pointing you in the directions of the west wing and the study where the beast meets. We were sat in the ballroom on the wall opposite side of the windows. It was actually really nice because we were not in the middle of the room, so it was quite and more intimate. Our server was great and very helpful with the menu. She even gave us the secret it on how they find you at lunch to bring out your food.

We started with potato leek soup. It was delish!!! Drew got steak. (have you sensed a theme yet) and I got the seafood puff pastry. It was really good!!! For dessert drew got the “brownie” with the grey stuff and I got a tropical cream puff. It was just okay. The pastry was just okay, I scooped the pudding out of the puff.

Dessert is served table side. So they bring you the whole cart and then you pick out which one you want. I thought it was cute that the server add the little decorated touch right there

After dessert we paid the bill and we went to go meet the Beast.

He was great! After our picture he did not let go of me. So I told Drew that Beast and I were going to run away together. And I told him not to tell Belle. Beast turned to Drew and the CM and held his finger up to his lips in the shhh symbol. :rotfl2:

We got done at 8:30ish and Wishes was just ending. There was a parade scheduled for 9pm. But since we already seen it we decided to chaptalize on the low wait times during the parade. We went over to space mountain to use our FP that we weren’t allow to use before.

Afterwards we headed over to Frontierland and rode Pirates which had no wait and quickly went over to BTMRR. We had to cross the rode before the parade came and would not let us cross. We walked right onto BTMRR and we could see the parade passing while at the top of the mountain. When we got off a huge crowd was heading our way because the parade was just passing.

It was time for closing but Drew wanted walked inside the castle. I wanted to wait for the goodnight kiss… but it never happened. We headed out and back to the resort. I had to pack because the we would be leaving the next day. :(

Magic Kingdom! Goodbye!

Today's theme was use up our snacks and QS meals. I was too careful with the snacks in the beginning of the week and we messed us with the QS because we didn't use one when my family came and we didn't use one when we went to the movies.

Drew went and got us breakfast and brought it back to the room. I had French toast and Drew had pancakes. I finished packing and put our luggage in storage and checked in our one check bag.

Today its not going to rain….well that’s what we thought. It wasn’t as bad as the other days. It only rained a little bit in the morning and refused to use our ponchos lol

We were a little late and didn’t get to MK until 9:05 and we headed to the train station. We had just missed a train and had to wait 7 mins.

Took this from the train platform

We rode the rain to Tomorrowland where we rode Space Mountain standby with a 10 min wait but it was a walk on. Then we did it again on FP and again no wait. We headed across the hub and down main street because we still had snack credits and I wanted Starbucks.

Then we went and found princess Tiana.

afterwards we went to find Jasmine but they just closed the line when we walked up. We went over to the Swiss family tree.

Then back to Jasmine and waited about 15 mins for them to show back up. We were first in line so they showed up at 11:17 we were done at 11:20.

Drew wanted to try a dole whip so we got one with pineapple with a snack credit he loved it!

We headed back towards the hub and through liberty square towards HM.
We had a FP for HM. We joined the line but still had to wait to get into the building. We didn't not have to wait very long though. After HM we did Mickey's Philharmonic. Again we had loud screeming family who just didn't know how to sit for 15 mins and enjoy without being disruptive. We walked over and rode BTMRR one last time. Drew got a drink and a popcorn (both with a SC) and we headed to Hall of President and waited for the next show.

After the show we headed back down main street and had one last photo taken and took bus back to resort.

We had lunch at the resort. I had a hotdog and Drew had a meatball sub. Drew and I got a mickey ice creams for dessert. After lunch we headed to pick up our luggage and waited about 20 mns for the ME. On the way back to the airport we stopped at 3 hotels and were on our way. Of course on our way the the airport the sun came out and it was a beautiful afternoon. At least it was good flying weather.

Final Thoughts

So even though we didn't have the best weather we had a great time! It was a fantastic "first" and "last" time. We look forward to bringing our children in many years.

Our experience with the Magic Bands were good. We never had a problem with them scanning anything. The app worked well with us too. I was able to move FP that I knew we would not be able to make. I was not able to change the slot though if we missed a FP but that might have been because nothing was available. We didn't even use all our FPs. Some times we left before we used all of them or didn't make it back to the park in time. But it was such a slow time of year it didn't matter.

Talking about crowds they were very low. We did see a few Brazilian tour groups but they did not bother us at all and they never affected our wait times. On our last day we saw a bunch of cheer groups and they did make the place feel more crowded. The weekends were more crowded then the week but it was nothing that was not workable. We always did rope drop and most time did closings.

We had a good experience with the DDP as well. We never had to wait long for any of our reservations and I don't think any of our food was bad.

If you have any questions for me please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for following along with me.

Wish I was back in FL today where it's 81 degrees. We got more snow today. Just heard nj is having the 7th snowiest winter of its history.

Sorry you are getting more snow!! We had a heat wave this afternoon in Southwest VA--58 degrees!! with probably 4-6 inches of snow to still thaw in places of our 14-18 inches.
