I always see discussions on if you should or shouldn't go into a disney park on the holiday. I never see it mentioned how the parks are different that day and I think it's time we changed that.. There is a lot of great ways to celebrate at Disney and the list keeps increasing.
Everyone jump in with your photos and video of what disney is like when they turn down the disney and turn up the fun. I'll be joining with more from Epcot and Hollywood over the coming days and weeks.
Magic Kingdom.
the day starts rather normal, in fact one would say depending on holiday it actually starts much less crowded. then somewhere around 4-6pm, it starts to be a little less disney and a little more outdoor party. not a ticketed party but there are similarities.
Sure you can ride things, and enjoy those parts of disney but for me it's one of those times where my other love starts to mix with disney in a way you just don't see any other days of the year.
Here's 10 minutes from the hub at approximately 11:15pm - 11:25pm on 12/30/2016.
QUALITY WARNING:
This is a very quickly stitched and unaltered 10 minutes last night during the first night of the new years even celebration. To properly get a 360 video up with high quality it can take several days and it's a lot of data to process. this is why most people posting them really don't have great quality. They've become pump and dump disney reporters and for some types of video that just doesn't work well.
Viewing suggestions:
This is a 4K video, but the whole thing in full 360 degrees is 4K. Take youtube off the auto quality setting and crank it all the way up to 2166P even if it needs to buffer a little until you can watch it. That'll change the quality of what you can see where your looking to the highest on youtubne.
It's still not going to look spectatular because youtube recompresses videos and as warned before, this was a very fast untouched, unpost process video so it has a lot of issues to start with that needs to be taken care of.
Watch from your mobile phone and move the phone around, hold it where you want to be forward when you start the video and wherever you point the phone, including up and down is where you will see. If you hold it closer to your face it'll be like your there. If you get into the VR/360 videos you can get a simple head piece for under $15USD that'll hold your phone at a good spot so you can move your head around like your there. If you have an extra box laying around, google 360 cardboard and you'll get some patterns to make your own from cardboard to try it out first.
MAC warning:
Safari isn't know for good 360 support in it's browsers, the video might look funny and give it a whirl from your phone or try something like chrome browser.

If you ever see the above (and I raise it to about 7 feet) say hi, but please use caution as your talking next to microphones. pick the correct time to say hi and it does take a few minutes after the show to put away..
picture note: I usually have more cameras on it but i was traveling light for the crowd and one of the mounts broke but in general you'll see something like this in a spot that is good for a 360 view if I'm around.
