It shook my house and all my dishes were rattling :earseek: and the roaring sound was really bad.I know it was not big but I did not like that at all.I have never felt anything like that before.

Wow, you had one in N. Carolina??
I know their not unkown here back east, but yikes!
What does the news say? Anything?

My parents (elderly) live there. Please, before I phone and wake them, what area of NC if you don't mind saying?

Seriously?? :earseek: Are you near Raleigh?? I've turned on the news, but haven't heard mention of it yet. :confused3

3.8,I knew it was not to bad but its something we do not feel around here.I definetly dont want to feel another one.

This is unbelievable! So glad you're all right and hope no more follow.....ever!

Glad it was "only" 3.8, but if it's your first time
it is nervewracking no matter what the number!

EEK! My cousin and uncle are just West of Asheville, as well. I'll have to email them.

I'm trying to think exactly when...I'm thinking 2 years ago this December, I felt one in my home just North of Charlotte. Not big, but I was sitting on the couch using my laptop. It felt sort of like a big truck was going by, but that wasn't possible on our cul-de-sac street. I felt the couch shaking, and when I looked at our Christmas tree (which is how I know it must have been December), all of the ornaments were shaking.

I wasn't sure what it was at first, but I was posting on another message board at that moment, and a post came through from someone in VA about the fact that they had just had an earthquake. We found out it was at the exact same time, so that solidified it for me. It was also on the news later.

So, my point?? :rotfl: NC does, indeed, have earthquakes!! :earseek:

We had one up here in the mountains (upstate NY) several years ago and it was certainly an experience.. LOL I'd never felt one before, so it took me awhile to figure out what it was.. I was sleeping on the studio couch and I woke up to the "sound" - as well as the couch and everything else shaking like crazy.. I jumped up and when I felt the floor underneath me shaking too I kind of figured it was an earthquake, but how could that be?? I ran to the phone and called 911.. When the dispatcher answered I said, "You're going to think I'm crazy... - and he cut me off and said, "No. You're not crazy - and yes - we just had an earthquake.." LOL

That was the STRANGEST noise and sensation EVER - and I would prefer never to experience it again, thank you..

Glad you didn't have any damage - other than "rattled" nerves.. :teeth:

Its all over the news now. There has been a rock slide about 30 minutes from my house. From all the reports it was felt in my county more than other places.

WOW, well i hope everyone is ok!

Been there, done that, and if you get any after shocks, stand in a sturdy doorway, or get under a table. I hope everything is ok where you are at.

WOW you must have been terrified :earseek: ,,,are there no warnings before an Earth quake? I am gald you are ok,,, I am a big BABY about all these things,,(as I am sitting here in front of the TV watching KATRINA head for my back door :rotfl: ) !!

I hope you didnt have any damage,,,STAY SAFE
