We just returned from our great trip & I am still too tired to create a coherent account of our activities.

However, I can probably answer questions relating to the following:

--Anaheim Hilton [quite nice, although labyrinthian];
--HoJos--pool, upgraded room & non-upgraded room;
--Magic Morning [awesome!];
--Tigger Tails [seems like it would be odd, but is actually delicious!];
--Toy Story!!!! [we got to ride it 3 times during soft openings!];
--crowds;
--Annual Pass upgrades;
--LAX;
--Budget car rental;
--weather;
--ride wait time....

And, I'm sure many others but I can't remember right now. So hit me with any questions you may have.

I cannot even begin to describe how happy I am to have an Annual Pass!!!!

It was a very easy process. We upgraded at about 10:00am on Monday morning, and there were only 2 people ahead of us.

I am working on the next trip, but it is not yet planned. I'm having problems with timing. The rest of the summer is too hot & we will already be traveling in July. Fall would be nice, but DH's annual convention is at the beginning of October, so most of September & beginning of October are out. We are planning to go to Europe at the beginning of November, so that's out. Then Christmas is already taken, so I don't know what's left. Someone help me please!! [I'm thinking of just squeezing the trip in between DH's conference & the trip to Europe---DH doesn't know yet!]

What was your high score on TSMM?

I can't remember all my scores, but my score on the last ride was 79,000---which is not very good since I think the high score that day was 320,000. But it is a really fun ride!!

You know, I've lived in VA, and I think that getting out to Anaheim would be a relief from the humidity in your part of the world.

I enjoyed going in late January this year. Low crowds, the holiday overlay of Haunted Mansion had just come down, and it was chilly and drizzly enough to keep many people away (and to make me feel at home, LOL). And the weather in Jan is probably more mild than what you would be experiencing!

And then we found the week after Memorial Day (our trip started on the Mem Monday) to be delightfully not as crowded as expected, though a bit warmer than I was happy with.

You know, I've lived in VA, and I think that getting out to Anaheim would be a relief from the humidity in your part of the world.

CA is a relief from the humidity here, although some mornings there were surprisingly humid. However, it was still quite nice since our weather here had been humid & extremely hot!!!

January would be a great time to go--I love chilly & drizzly! [It actually is my favorite weather.]

We were out there in February this year & they had unusually warm weather that weekend [the first nice weekend of the winter]& even California Adventure was absolutely mobbed!!!! We waited in line for Heimlich's Chew-Chew Train for over 30 minutes! It was insane!!!! [Disclaimer: It was my first visit to Cal.Adv. & I was with others who insisted we ride it & wait for that ride. It is my opinion that the 25 second ride is not worth such a long wait.]

We will probably try to go in February again, but I don't want to wait that long!

I think DS would love it but, truth be told, I think I would be more excited about it than he will be!!!!

Wow. That might be worse than 6.5 hours for Toy Story Midway Mania.

Don't get me wrong, I love that ride. It's adorable and makes my son (just turned 4) so incredibly happy, and it smells good and you get misted and, you know, it's a good place to cat nap. But not to wait for 30 minutes!!! Even my son, who is used to being able to go around again (up to 8 times in a row, once) without even getting off the ride, was cool with not going again when he saw the 7 or so minute line had grown.

I lived with my mom and stepdad for a year out in Burke. I liked it b/c it was so central, we could be anywhere in the area in a relatively short amount of time! Learned how much strollers can hurt at a Scottish festival in Alexandria, LOL (I needed to keep my achilles tendons!) and loved taking Metro into DC.


Anaheim feels like a desert to me! I know the water is right down the road, which is likely what makes it officially humid, but it feels like a desert.

That's funny! I lived in San Diego, somewhat desert-like, and then I moved to Denver where I thought I was going to die from the dryness!!!!

The humidity makes the heat unbearably oppressive, but I actually do like the feeling of it in the air. And, it's good for your skin!

I know---isn't that the worst?!? I didn't even know what I was waiting in line for, but it was out of my control. [It has made me even more of a control freak now though!]

HoJos was fine. We stayed in an upgraded room with a Disney view & I didn't love the room. Our air conditioning did not work very well & the room was sort of small. However, my parents & my sister's family stayed in the garden pool view rooms [non-upgraded] & their rooms were larger & their air conditioning worked very well. The location is good---a quick walk to & from the park. I also liked the game room in Building 1.

We preferred the Hilton---even for the location. It is farther to walk if the Timon lot is not open, but shorter if that lot is open because the tram stop is quite close to the Hilton. The rooms were nicer & the pool area is great. However, the rate is higher than the Ent. rate at HoJos.

Did you rent your car at LAX - if so - what kind of rate did you get?

We did rent our car, from Budget, at LAX. I can't quite remember the daily rate, but the total for the week - with taxes, fees & pre-paid fuel - was around $200 for a full sized car. We do the pre-paid fuel because I don't like the stress of having to find a gas station on the way to the airport, but by doing that we probably overpaid by about $30 because we turned the car in with about half a tank of gas. [And the pre-paid gas was $60 a tank--although their rate per gallon was reasonably priced.] [Gas is pricy in CA.]

Were you Dreamed?

We were not officially Dreamed, but I felt dreamed because we were able to ride TSMM before the official opening & I was really hoping to be able to do that!

There was also a very nice CM just inside California Adventure who chatted with us a couple of times & gave my niece a Hannah Montana bookmark & my son a door hanger from some other show. He said he was with the Dream Squad, but that was not an official Dream Time---he just liked to improve people's experiences in little or big ways.

Glad you had a good time! What was your favorite part of the Toy Story ride?

My favorite part of the Toy Story ride was the ring toss section. I also loved it when the air shot out of the popped balloons. It is a neat attraction!

...I can't believe you waited that long for the Chew-Chew Train! It was cute but!!! Oh well...you were on vacation right!!

Cool about the "non-Dream"...it was the little things like that that made our trip awesome.

hmmm, wonder if I can convince my DH we CAN use AP's...heck you are clear across the USA and we are ONE little state up!! I'm gonna try it!!
