We just got back - a bit controversial opinion

I think Disney keeps adding Resort / DVC villas, etc…
I just saw the new LakeShore Lodge construction up close from the Ft.Wilderness campgrounds… It is massive big and will create more than capacity should be required without anew theme park .
So enjoy it NOW

In comparison Universal Studios Orlando is attempting to control capacity and overcrowding at the new EPIC .
And the Disneyland Annual Passes are very restrictive .
I guess we should expect a new type of Ticketing for WDW next year.
Otherwise what will be the outcome?

I think it’s a balance. I’ll be going soon for the first time in 18 years(don’t ask, life happens!), so I know I’ve “over planned” a bit, but that was mostly me catching up on how much has changed. We have tickets for 9 days, but will be there for 10 full days. I have booked a few ADRs and other experiences, have general plans/priorities for each day, but other then the few things we’ve scheduled spread out over that time… I’m going to enjoy sipping my Joffrey’s every morning out of my resort mug and just be happy to be back in one of my very favorite places.

I’m glad that you had a magical time. :wizard:

When we do Disney we get length of stay tickets and go for 9-10 days. Once you hit a certain point adding days doesn’t cost that much. We feel this really cuts down on the feeling of rushing. Even if we only hit a park for 4-5 hours and do a few rides it really makes us feel much better about the trip. We also only get LL for 4 out of the 9-10 days and like having those days of going with the flow.
Sounds like my vacations to Disney!!! The best way to go! If I'm paying $10K to stay at a hotel for 2 weeks, I'm going to enjoy it! Not always that much, but sometimes!

Totally understand your honesty and understand completely. I and family have been going for 50+ years literally. Stayed at Poly & Contemporary the week it opened. We've gone much too many times to count. And spent much too much money to count.
Annual Passes, DVC, etc. etc. et6c.
It's in our blood. We still love it greatly BUT......absolutely each time we go, it changes very much and a lot of it we aren't pleased. It's definitely, positively more expensive and stressful and crowded and aggravating. Yes, we will most likely continue to go as I have several trips planned already.

BUT as someone like yourself coming from a great distance, all I can say is I'm sorry and I understand 100000%. And it looks like there's not a darn thing any of us can do about it. It's actually very sad but we love it. We are crazy.

I definitely like to go with the flow of whatever my family or who ever I am with wants to do. Makes it easier on me not having to plan for anything. Usually whenever I go, it's with someone that has a few things in mind of what they would like to ride but if we don't get to it, the following day we will.

Overplanning is so real, but it kind of sneaks up. We start watching videos and researching how this or that works and we're excited to keep at it. At some point tho it becomes over saturation and I'm sure this threshold is different for everyone. I like to do enough so I'm prepared and maybe answer some how to questions, but not so much that it spoils the real thing when I finally get there. I admit it's difficult to back off a bit, so much is available (YouTube).

Our best go to has been for everyone in the group (or even yourself if solo) to identify 1 thing that you really want to do that day. As if it were the only thing possible, e.g. ride that special ride or the attraction you know is maybe going away (poor Muppets). Then everything else is gravy! Also realize up front that it's impossible to see/do it all and just let it go. I certainly get wanting to cover as much as possible since it's so darn expensive to make it back. Just my 2 cents. :-)
