Aloha! :goodvibes

I just got off the phone with MS and booked our seven night stay for Aulani in April. :thumbsup2

We will be there to celebrate our anniversary and only need a studio for us.

We plan on doing a few day trips but most of our time there will be to enjoy the resort.

Now to find airfare from Rochester, NY to Honolulu and reserve our rental car.

I'm so excited I had to tell someone !!!!! :woohoo: :yay:

Now for the planning. Any help would be appreciated. We are already planning Pearl Harbor, Hiking Diamond Head, Dole Plantation and a drive to the North Shore. What are we missing?

Congratulations! We're hoping for June 2012 at 7 months. Be sure and let us know how your trip went. Pictures, Pictures, Pictures please:woohoo:

It all depends on what you like to do. They have a huge Flea Market at Aloha Stadium, awesome restaurants in Waikiki, Sea Life Park, Waikiki Aquarium, Polynesian Cultural Center I could go on and on. We lived in Honolulu for 6 years while stationed at Hickam Air Force Base. But if nothing else make sure you do a luau, if Aulani is not doing one Germaine's is probably the best on the island, IMHO. Have fun and have some Kalua Pork and a Manapua for me. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

When we were there, they were promoting both Germaine's and Paradise Cove. Paradise Cove is walking distance.

First of all..... Thank you for your service. :thumbsup2

I was also in the USAF, 1969 -1973 but never stationed at Hickam. Yep.... I'm that old. ;)

As far as luau goes I think we are planning on the one at Paradise Cove. Walking distance from Aulani we hear.

@WebmasterCorey Thanks for the photo's. They are great. The link was much appreciated. :worship:

Now I have another problem...... after all our research......my bride wants to stay longer. I'm goona need to buy more points soon. :lmao:

Thank you both for your service to our Country :)

I'd appreciate you posting everything you find out! My Husband and I are in Buffalo, NY and have just started planning our Aulani vacation. We're not even sure exactly when we plan on traveling yet.

Don't forget that DVC offers a one-time use vacation points per year (24 pts) when available for $15/point (see page 8 of the 2011/2012 vacation planner/membership tools book). This is how we were able to extend our Aulani stay. We actually purchased 48 points since we have two completely different contracts with different membership numbers. We are starting our stay off with a standard studio 3 nights, then switching over to a 1 bedroomm ocean view. I know you can do the "renting" thing from other members, but with Aulani I did not want to take any chances.

what view category were you able to book? I am booking at 7 mos this weekend :)

I booked (rented points from a DVC owner) an island view studio for mid-December last month (late August) for a week. The standard view studio was only available for 4 of my nights so we opted for the upgrade.

Good luck with your reservation!

Were hoping to books two weeks in a two bedroom for July / August.......The wait for the 7 month window is agonizing:scared1:

We booked an Island Garden view studio. I also requested to be no higher than the 6th floor. My DW has a hard time with heights.

Good luck getting your reservation..... I don't think you will have any problems.

Thank you neighbor. :thumbsup2

From Rochester the flights are about $1,850 for us. There are several good airlines but we usually fly Delta to most places from here. And the nice thing about it is after our trip, we will have enough Frequent Flier miles for a free trip.

United and American have some great flights too and maybe a few $$ cheaper but I want to avoid Chicago at all costs. I am not a fan of flying through O'Hare...... sorry Chicago friends. I've been stranded there too many times. I love your city, but not that airport.

If I find out any more I'll let you know.

I guess we will cross paths while there! We plan on arriving Apr 17 :) I am teetering back and forth between Island and Pool View...

To be honest..... we really, really, really thought about getting the pool view. But I'm cheap and like to save points for another trip. :sad2:

Besides..... even though we are a little older, we don't sit around the room much. We are always on the go. :yay:

Good luck booking and we'll see you there. :thumbsup2

Did you happen to look at flights yet?
Yesterday, for the fun of it, I tried CO from EWR directly to Honululu (sp?).
It was about $1,000 per person (a little more actually), round trip, non stop.
It was a little too much for a family of 4 for the summer when we already have planned a cruise in July, Disney end of August and perhaps Outerbanks in beg. of August. I'll get back there one day though but hopefully sooner rather than later. Enjoy and let us know how you make out with the air.

So far our best is still Delta ROC - HNL via ATL for $1,854 for DW and I. We each get one bag free and we will have enough air miles after this trip to allow us a free flight to MCO. :cheer2:

So glad it is working out but I would spend the extra $150 for non stop from CO. Does Delta go non-stop?
Enjoy!!!
