We invite you, if you dare ……… Summer plans 08/04 Day 25

The flooding pictures are so sad. Recovering from a flood like that is so difficult and a very long process. I am thank that both you and Tom are OK!!!
It is such a great feeling having your vacation paid in advance isn't it!!!!
I am so looking forward to our wishes cruise. Life here has been extremely difficult and we can really use a "happy" boost!!!

Hi Karin! So sorry about all of your flooding. They rarely have the news on here at my Son's house, so I didn't know about it. I'm glad you and Tom are okay, but it is heartbreaking to see that others are not. Such a beautiful city to be damaged like that. :sad2:

I'm happy your plans are coming together for your trip!:cool1: We are leaving in 26 days for ours!!! I usually have my lists done way in advance and all of my packing about done by now - I am way behind with everything we've had going on. :crazy2:

I was wondering about you and Tom after hearing about the flooding on the news. I had searched the web for photos of Linz to see if you had flooding and saw some similar to yours but I could not find much info in English my German is very limited. Glad you are both ok but very sorry about the devastating flood for your city.

Teri, I am sorry I didn't respond earlier, but with the flood and the end of the school year approaching fast, I did not have much time for vacation planning. ;)
We are kind of used to "smaller floods" but this one was an epic. Large parts of Germany are still flooded, while we are getting back to normal. :thumbsup2

Will email you soon to plan our dinner. I never got around to even think about it. :sad2:

Glad you and Tom are okay !!! I remember similar flodding in my hometown many years ago !! Luckily my parents lived on top of the Hill so they were not affected , but you needed a boat to get to the Hill!!!

Thank you, Rosie.
We are as lucky as your parents as both Tom and I live on higher ground, but the devastation in the city center was intense. :scared1:

Oh Karin! Wow. I am SO grateful both you and Tom are ok and my heart hurts for all those affected. That is a LOT of water!

I love having everything (possible) paid for before we leave. It's painful enough once there :lmao:

It was heartbreaking to see the reports of what all has been lost. So many newly built houses and they all need to be renovated. :sad2:

As for our vacation. It just feels so much more real when everything is paid for. And since we do not carry a lot of CC (not used to it in Europe) I need to cleverly plan not to go over the limit with hotel bills. :rotfl2:

Wow, unbelievable flooding! So sorry for all those that lost their houses.
Very excited for you that you are down to sixty days - hooray! I just booked a trip in September, a combo work/fun trip. I'm going to a three day convention for work at WDW but am going two days early for fun!! My best friend is coming along to keep me company as my husband opted to stay home (unfortunately he is not a WDW lover, thankfully he is ok with me visiting often) My best friend loves disney as much as I do so we are soooo excited and having fun planning!

It was just so surreal to see all the damage. I mean, on Sunday we went to our fairground, which is alongside the Danube and there were masses of people to have a look around. There was so much space between the info center and the Danube, but when we returned 24 hours later the info center was halfway under water.
Only three more weeks of school and then it is ALL vacation planning! :thumbsup2 To be honest, I cannot wait.
When in September will you be at WDW? We are leaving on September 7th.

popcorn:: joining in popcorn::

:welcome:
I can help all the planning help I can get ...... 33 days this summer :scared1:

The flooding is unbelievable! I really am glad you are both ok!!!!

And yes, on a brighter note... so excited that your trip is around the corner. With payments made and online check in done, I am sure you are excited!!!

I would not have believed the flooding myself if I had not seen it with my own eyes and had experienced how fast it all happened. :scared1:

Isn't it funny, they let you check in 60 days in advance? :lmao: But it does feel so much more real once it's done. :thumbsup2

Wow Karin, that is some serious flooding!

Happy to hear that you and Tom are both OK

Your summer trip will come around in no time and it sounds like it will be a well deserved break :)

It was quite something to see how fast such a flooding can happen. Tom and I were lucky.

I can't believe you are so close to your trip. Have a safe trip and enjoy your Alaskan cruise.

Just checking in !! Showed the pix of the flooding to co workers ,they were all saying WOW!!!!

Hi Rosie!
I agree with you and your co-workers - it was some kind of flooding!
Can't believe that you are on to your next trip already.

I'll be at WDW from Sept 11-15 so it looks like we will just miss each other - too bad! I mostly DIS from my I pad now and I haven't figured out how to post smileys... but picture a sad face here.

Holy cow. Thats a lot of water. How awful. I am glad you are safe though.

Yeah for checking in.
hertz can be expensive. My SIL works for them and I get a family discount and it still is not always the cheapest option. I always compare up till the very end. We did get a great rate in April out of Richmond, Virginia for a week in a mid sized suv for $200. I couldn't find anything else close to it.

Jen, I would not have believed it, hadn't I seen it with my own eyes. :scared1: And it came so quickly. Some areas were literally locked in. :sad2:

Hertz is so expensive, I know, but then their service is better than any other rental brand we have used so far. I would have gone for them in the first place, but they did not offer a Convertible in PC, so we went with Dollar. Now, when the special came out we both just could not resist. :rotfl2:

So happy to hear that you and Tom are ok, but sorry to hear about the floods in your city. I know all too well about flooding and damage with hurricane Sandy here last yr.

YAY...for under two months! I know Jeff can't wait. Scott just came back from a 5 day WDW vacation. He went with a friend for Star Wars Weekend. He had a good time, but he said 5 days is way too short. I guess when he has gone for 18 days for the last 20 yrs, he is spoiled. :)

Elaine, so nice to see you being back! I hope everyone is okay.

Time is ticking away quickly now that we could do online check in. And we cannot wait to see Jeff, Lily and the kids again. :thumbsup2 Would have made it perfect if you were there too, but I promise to have a drink for you! ;)

I couldn't agree more with Scott! 5 days are WAY too short. :lmao: Our week in February, even though we are on vacation for 9 days seems like it is gone while you snip your fingers. :scared1:

It was just so scary to see, Michelle. From one day to the other the water rose so much it was unbelievable. But the city is doing great, recovering from it.
Michelle, I am so sorry to hear you had such a difficult time. I hope things are on the way to getting better.
I cannot wait to see you all again either. And I SO hope that our Wishes cruise will not be the only time we will spend together.

Thank you, Tammie.
It was so unbelievable to see the difference and rising waters from day to day and so scary. Even though we knew we were never in danger, the damage was just horrible.

I take it, you had some ups and downs with moving, so I hope that your upcoming vacation will be an awesome one!
Don't worry about not being packed yet - I am a last minute packer, the night before we leave is the time I pack. :rotfl2:

Ah, what a shame. We will miss each other by a few days. :sad2:

I really need to get my planning started, so I have put my DLRP trip report on hold, but promise to finish it, once I am finally on holiday (3 weeks from now).

So here comes the planning of our 33 day summer trip! ;)

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

And what a LOT of airline food there will be. :rotfl2:

Well, I guess Southwest will not move to the top of my list of airlines to try any time soon. :lmao:

I always make sure I grab something in the airport to bring along... after I got stuck on a 5 hr flight from Vegas to Albany... on 100 Calories!!! :sad2::sad2:

We learned the hard way that you need to bring a snack yourself a few years back when we flew from Orlando to Las Vegas. :rotfl2:
Being so used to being "fed" on the plane we had just grabbed a bite for breakfast. I was glad we had made some Ghirardelli purchases - which came in very handy.

I tend to bring Subway with me and I've learned not to feel guilty when the guy next to me is eating his pretzels... all 100 calories of them... :rotfl:

The last few times we have stocked up on Earl of Sandwich sandwiches. :rotfl2:

DSC_0349.JPG

I guess we will have lunch together, hopefully at BoG

and in the afternoon we will have to take some time out, because the time change will catch up with us and because we will need to do some cruise shopping.

IMG_0724.JPG

In the evening we will meet at the Polynesian Resort to have dinner at the Kona Café

IMG_2452.jpg

with Jeff and his family and after that we will head outside to meet our other friend Michelle and her family to head to the marina and embark on a Wishes Fireworks cruise.

I am sure that after the cruise we will all still sit around at Captain Cooks for a while before we will say goodnight and head back to OKW.

Well you have the beginning of the trip well planned !!! Now I am back from Vermont I have finally uploaded my Elvis pix !!! Check them out !! Also have almost finished the Cruise TR just a few more updates to go !!

Your plans are a great beginning to your summer trip!!!

Thank you, Teresa. I didn't have much time yet to do lots of planning. I hope that once I go on holiday I will be able to finish my "planning".
There are too many things we want to do and not enough time in a 33 day vacation. :rotfl2:

Yes, two days down, only 31 to go. :rotfl2:
I cannot wait to read more about your adventures, Rosie! So much inspiration for myself. :thumbsup2

Here's a bit of news concerning our trip in February 2014!

:dance3: :dance3: I booked our flights for our trip February 15 - 23, 2014!!!!!!! :dance3: :dance3:

I have been stalking Lufthansa's site for quite some time now, but their prices were continuously high. (think 2200 € for the two of us)
On Thursday I got a newsletter with ridiculous low prices (600 €) per person, so I tried booking, but their calendar was locked. So after a phone call, where I was told to just try again and again, I decided to do just that. Try whenever I had a chance.
Yesterday I tried, our dates were open, needless to say the rate was a lot higher, but still 300 lower than the regular site, so I booked it!

One more hurdle out of the way! ;) In about three weeks our DVC 7 months window opens to book accomodation. We'll see what we will score there. ;)
