We have to Cancel - Holding Pts Question

Unfortunately, due to a death in our family we have to cancel our vacation. We were going to SSR tomorrow for a week.

Just so I understand, when I cancel today, my points will go into a holding acct. From there, I have until the end of my use year to use these points? Also - you can only book 60 days prior to your visit with these points, correct?

That is correct. Hopefully, given the circumstances, Member Services will sprinkle some pixie dust so you can avoid the holding account...but on such short notice, I doubt it.

Sorry to hear about the death in your family.

Your understanding of the use of holding points is correct.

When you call to cancel, perhaps MS will make an exception for you regarding the holding points (allow them to go back as current use year points). Sometimes, MS can work a little magic in extenuating circumstances. Doesn't hurt to ask.

We lost my stepdad 2 days before a trip, and I even asked for a 1 time exception, to no avail. Oh well, rules are rules. I was sure hoping they could have extended some PD to you when I read this thread.
