I'm so excited that tomorrow we will attend our last adoption PRIDE class, so I just had to share!
Now, we just have to wait for our home study and final walk through to become open. Of course, we probably will have to wait months or event longer once we get open, but it will be so nice to know that we've got all the paperwork, classes, etc. behind us!

Yes, we are. Now almost all we have left is the waiting!

Just wanted to say "thanks" for doing this.. I'm adopted myself and were it not for my wonderful parents, I would have had an absolutely horrid life if I had remained with my birth mother and her second husband..

You are doing a wonderful thing! :thumbsup2

:cool1: Congratulations on one more step behind you in your journey. Best wishes in arriving at your destination.

Congrats! I'm an adoptive mom myself. We adopted our younger kids 9 years ago. They were a sibling group of 4; one girl and 3 boys. At the time they were 2, 3, 4, and 5 years old.

Best of luck to you as you complete the process and wait for your first placement! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yay!:yay:
As an adopted kid myself I want to say congrats! I hope adopting a child will be a very rewarding experience for you!

I'm an adoptee and an adoptive mum. I feel that I have had a blessed life and wish you and your family health and happiness. Hoping you don't have to wait too long.

Woo Hoo!! That's awesome! Feels soooo good to get that done!!!

We are on the same track. We took PRIDE last year but had to delay turning in our application, for financial reasons. Now we have the ball rolling again.

We had our first meet with the SW, last week. She came to our house because she was going to be in the neighborhood. Yikes!! I spent a week cleaning. LOL!!!

We got our first aid cert. today!! Our first Bridge Builders class is in 8 hours (need to go to bed, LOL), Foster license workshop is Wed., then CPR and last Bridge Builders the next week. All we'll need then is our med. clearance, individual interviews and home inspection.

We are hoping to adopt one or two, under the age of 5. We specified girls, since we only have 1 room, but we are rethinking that.

What age etc....are you hoping for??

Again....Woo Hoo!!!:cool1:

Congratulations! Both of our children were adopted and I'll always remember the excitement of finishing each step of the homestudy requirements. All the best to you as you wait for your new child! :goodvibes

Congratulations! Yesterday my brother & his wife finalized the adoption of a sibling group of four ages 2, 8, 12 & 16 - they join their 3 year old brother who was adopted in august. All 5 kids came from foster care. So they went from the two of them to the seven of them in less than a year! :)

Not sure where you are adopting from, but dh's sister has 2 boys - a 7 year old from Ethiopia and a 9 year from Korea.

Well, we're done! It was such a great feeling to turn in our folder for the last time. We're adopting through DCFS, and we're looking for the 0-4 age range, either boy or girl. We've got two boys already, so everybody thinks we're doing this just to have a girl, but that's not the case. We just want to add to our family in a way that helps out a child in need. We're so excited to be one step closer to that goal! Now we just have the home study visit and final walk-through & then we'll be open!:cool1:

Yeah for you! My DH & I went through the classes & adopted our DD about 3 years ago. One of my best friends is just beginning the process & will take her classes next month. It's so fun remembering those times. It's amazing how the time has passed. I remember how it seemed to take forever at the time. I hope the time passes quickly for you and that your little one will be home soon. Congratulations!

Congrats Prayers being said that this is a quick process for you.

But as a birth mom, keep the birth mom in your prayers too.

Best of luck!

That's awesome! Congratulations! :thumbsup2

Friends of mine are about to adopt a beautiful toddler, and they are so happy. :goodvibes
