We have eaten all our hurricane snacks

OMG Robin. Now I'm picturing John and Kevin being attacked by Dementors. Think happy thoughts to conjure those patronuses! Or is that patronii? :rotfl2:

I know who their patronus would be.. but I can't say without getting teary-eyed.... :goodvibes :grouphug:

ok....I have no idea what you are all talking about.

I'm lost.

Harry Potter - Azkaban. Harry uses his patronus to fend off dementors. Harry's patronus takes the form of a stag, which represents his dad. Dementors are nasty creatures that suck all the happiness out of you. To recover from dementors being near, people eat chocolate to make them feel better.

Not a Harry Potter fan?

Only the Maggie Smith parts....and not even them so much.

I didnt like the Ring movies either.

I know. I'm not right.

Kevin, you have to read the books. The movies do not do them justice!

On your next road trip up to NJ, pick up a copy of HP and the Sorcerers Stone on audio book (from the library) and listen to it. It's read to you by Jim Dale, who does a fantastic job!

DH wanted nothing to do with HP and this is how DD and I got him hooked on HP! :goodvibes

Totally agree. I didn't care for the movies at first, but then I read the first book with my then 6 yo. He now reads them on his own, but I've since read a couple more of them. Reading the book then seeing the movie is much more enjoyable.

Gotta say though, I couldn't stand the rings movies either! bleeck...

Coco,

I totally agree with you! The books are so much better than the movies, and I don't read books. I read book five in two and a half days (842 pages) Yikes!

Anyway, Kevin read the books with chocolate in your hand. Did I mention that there are new M&M's out there and they are yummy...... :thumbsup2

Or better yet, look for the HP books on tape/cd and listen to them in the car when you're driving around ... or put them on your ipod. The narrator is Jim Dale who is EXCELLENT! I almost prefer to hear him read these books than to hear the movie characters talk!

Wewww...I thought I was the only one.

No Rings or HP for me either, although DH and the DS's enjoy them. I even read the 1st and 2nd books to the boys when they were younger, but still didn't get into it.

aww a khat flying by to save the day:sad1: :grouphug:

Yup. That's what initially came to mind. Or a boot. Kind of bittersweet. *sigh*

ANY-WAYYYYY....... I agree that reading the HP books make the movies more enjoyable. They are a great read, too.

I used to listen to audio books, then I got hooked on podcasts...

Here's a hijack pirate: -

What book/types of book would you like to hear Kevin and John read as an audio book?

"Two DISFloridians' Guide to Hurricane Survival - Hunkering with Snacks 101" would be an instant bestseller!! :rotfl: I'd listen. Ooo!! Package the audio book with Dove Chocolate!!! I'm gonna be RICH!!!!! :rotfl2:

popcorn:: popcorn::

one little tid bit left out

--- Harry's patronus is a Stag because his father was able to change into a stag. a wizard able to do this os called an animagus. So it is as if his father even in death will always be there to protect him.

I also agree with cocowum!!!! you need to read the books to be totally in love with the story!

I also believe that anyone who says movie three is the best movie then they're delusional!!!!

and Jim Dale is brilliant!!!!

I HAVE to chime in here and say that Jim Dale is AMAZING! He does such a good job with the characters' voices. You wouldn't even need the "Hermione said" "Harry said" "Ron said", you can tell who is talking just by his voice. And my favorite voice character for him is Prof McGonagall.

If you are on the fence with whether or not to try the Harry Potter books - do yourself a favor and get the audio books!

I completely agree! :thumbsup2 All this talk of HP has me wanting to listen again. :goodvibes

Last night was the worst of the storm for us and required our best hunkering down.

Kevin finished his chocolates (Hershey's Nuggests, Dark Chocolate Truffles) I still have 1/3 of a big of mine (Hershey's Nuggests, Milk Chocolate).

We both have salty snacks left but I am down to my last 1/2 bag of Cheetos - if I run out I may have to call FEMA.

Just so you don't think we eat like 13 year olds who's parents are out for the evening - we did go over to Kevin's folks house for dinnner. His Mom made one of our favorite pasta dishes and Kevin made homemade Italian wedding soup - OMG he makes awesome soups!!!!
