DD got engaged over the weekend and we are all thrilled!

June 26, 2004 is the big day and yesterday, we managed to reserve the hall, the church, the DJ and the cake.

The hall was the "biggie" and once we got that taken care, everything else fell right in line.

It's been 5 years since DD #1 was married, so I'd love to have some new and creative ideas from any recent brides. ;)

Congratulations!!! Have fun with the planning.

Congrats!

Okay, this is not a "new" idea....DH and I have been married 9 years this year...but this was our favor and I have never seen it since.....

On our stroll down the aisle, back out of the church, which the wedding party walked s-l-o-w-l-y per my instructions.....a local photo shop snapped several pics of us. They then selected the best one and put it into a paper frame than folded open like a book.....

Plain on the outside...on the inside on right was our photo, on left it thanked everyone for sharing our day.....they were delivered to the hall before we were even served dinner and we went from table to table to pass out and greet everyone....

I actually have a ton of extras, if you pm me, I can mail you one as a sample...or I will try to take a picture with the digital and post here.

Congratulations Patty on the set wedding date for your daughter. A June bride...how exciting!

Anyway, as Poohbear1029 posted, we also did photo thank you cards but ours were a little different. This is really popular on the east coast (I'm originally from NY) but here in Michigan (& when I lived in California), I had never seen the photo thank you's.

We were able to order our thank you cards from the card shop (bridal book of course) & it's pretty formal looking & we could use their wording or create your own...we created our own. It comes with slits on it so that you can insert your wallet sized bridal photo. So once we got our photo proofs, we chose our fave shot of my DH & I (taken on a gorgeous staircase with my train flowing around me & my handsome groom tightly near me) & ordered about 250 of them & inserted them in card & sent off to all our guests. I can't tell you how many compliments we got on our Thank You notes! As I said, it's uncommon here to see those.

I also have some extra's, if you'd like a sample of one, I'll be glad to mail it to you. Please PM me with your address if you are interested in seeing it.

Happy Planning!

Rose

Congrats to your DD!

Congrats! Can I ask how he proposed? (I love those stories!)

One idea from a recent wedding we went to. After the bride and groom walked out of the church they came back down the aisle along with the wedding party and asked all the guests to stand up and turn to face the balcony. The photographer was up there and took a picture of everyone in the church, so the bride and groom have a photo of everyone who was at their wedding! :)

Have fun!

OK - here's the proposal...

Today is actually their one-year anniversary (of their first date). She wanted to surprise him - so this past weekend, she whisked him off to St. Louis. She planned a weekend there, staying with her aunt and uncle who had tickets for the four of them to go to the Cardinal/Cubs game on Friday night. (Our family are HUGE Cardinal fans - and the prospective groom is a die-hard Cub fan). Her aunt and uncle also live on a golf course - so Saturday was a planned day of golfing.

So, she got him to take off a day of work on Friday, told him to pack his golf clubs and not ask any questions. Little did she know that he had decided that this would be the perfect weekend for his "surprise".

He called our home on Thursday night and spoke with my husband and asked his permission to propose. My husband gladly gave his blessing - so we knew that something was going to happen in the very near future.

Colleen called me on Friday afternoon (at my office) laughing and crying on her cell phone. She said that she was sleeping and Jimmy was driving, when he pulled over to the side of the rode. She woke up and he told her that they had a flat tire. He got out, walked around the car and told her to get out and "come and look at this tire". She said that when she got out and looked - the tire looked fine - and she told him, "it's not flat". His reply was, "but look what I found sticking out of the tire!"

...and of course, he held up the ring - a beautiful round 1 carat diamond.

I know it's something she'll remember forever!!! ;)

One more thing...the bride-to-be is pictured in my signature - on the far right.

That's Colleen...and she has an identical twin sister, Katie.

awwww, how sweet!!

Very cute!

If you love the DIS, you and your daughter will love UW. It's my second disboards, but it's all about weddings
www.ultimatewedding.com

everything from favor ideas, to dress pictures to local msg boards. It's a terrific source of ideas, and it's also good if you want to throw out an idea and get lots of feedback:)

Thats so sweet! congrats to your DD. All 3 of them are just beautiful!

Awww, what a sweet proposal! And June is the BEST month to get married in! ;)

And I agree with bekkiz -- Ultimate Wedding rocks! I was a member -- well, I guess technically I still am, but as my wedding was almost a year ago I've moved on to the DIS and other boards. There's TONS of wedding information and ideas there. And you can set up personal journals there to keep track of your wedding plans! :) And it's free, and closely moderated so there's very little insults and opportunities for hurt feelings. :) I actually met a close friend on UW, and went to her wedding in Disney last November! And we're going to Disney together in October.
And if you want any random Disney wedding ideas, feel free to PM me. My wedding was as Disney-themed as I could make it. :)

Congrats to your DD & all the family.

I love that proposal.......I had goosebumps.........so sweet;)

A nice Congratulations to them!!!

My DH b-day is on the 26th. And my anniversery is on the 27th. Great time to get married.

YAY!! Congrats to her and to you...as the mom ;-)
My big day is in 11 days and we're doing WDW as our honeymoon. I live on the disboards and knot.com b/c it has msg boards for individual states and for each area of planning. Tell her to first off....start the planning binder. I wouldn't have been able to survive without mine, but I'm sure your other daughter will be able to help her plan too.
As for creative ideas...we only had one.
Instead of doing the traditional guest book, we had our engagment photo enlarged and then 5 inch matteing put all the way around it and framed. The guests will be able to sign the matteing at the reception and we'll hang it in our house when the wedding is over.

Good Luck and I'll always here if you have questions.
