So sorry to hear about that.....hoping she gets better real soon!!

Sorry to hear she is so sick. Hope she continues to get better fast and has no complications going forward. Prayers are with you and your daughter :grouphug:

Linda,

I'm so sorry to hear about your DD, I hope she continues to feel better and improve each day.

This reminds me of a conversation I had the other day when we went out to dinner with our neighbor. I am shocked that you are allowed to pick how you want a hamburger cooked in many restaurants these days. My DH will pick medium well, but our neighbor picked medium and it was definitely pink in the center of the burger. I asked if she was worried about e-coli and she (who is a nurse) said it was an urban legend, that only babies and senior citizens have to worry about that.

........I'm not a nurse, but that definitely sounds wrong and from what you described in your other thread I wouldn't ever want to risk it.

Good luck and definitely keep us in the loop. Your family will be in my thoughts.

Ann

Oh my goodness! How scary for both of you. Praying for a quick recovery and no lasting side effects.

I am a nurse, Ann. While it seems as if very young children and the elderly have the highest rate of complications from ecoli, it certainly can affect healthy adults, as well.

I am about to post a NY Tims article on the other thread that will make your hair stand on end. Please read it.

That is absolutely unbelievable and repulsive. :scared1: :scared1:

There aren't even words, I am definitely sending that article to my neighbor.

Wouldn't you know, I have hamburger thawing in the fridge right now for dinner tonight. Burgers on the grill....yum.

Ann - That is so scary! I will say a special prayer for you both! Lots of DIS hugs and well wishes across the 'net! Kathy

Wow, Linda. That is terribly scary. I'm so glad you daughter is doing better, but will keep the prayers coming.

I am so sorry your daughter had to go through that. Sounds absolutely horrible. I read that NY Times article the other day. That is one of the handful of reasons we became vegetarians a few years ago.
My FIL is a pediatrician and many years ago we were out to dinner, one of my DD's ordered a burger and when the waitress asked how she would like it, FIL spoke up. "Only WELL-DONE and you shouldn't even be asking. Hamburger should always be well done....people can get very sick........"
My thoughts are with you. I hope she gets better quick:)

Linda- so sorry this happened- what an aweful and frightening ordeal. I am glad to hear she is doing better now. Saying a big prayer for a quick and complete recovery.

The article is quite disturbing btw- I forced myself to read the whole thing. :scared:

Very sorry to hear that. You are in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

I'm sorry that she is going through such an awful time. Best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear that Linda,,,, sending good thoughts your way. Glad to hear things are better. Stay strong.

Good thoughts for your DD and your family. Hope she recovers soon.

Ugh! Glad to hear that she's doing better now. That has to be pretty awful. (I mean, the ordeal, not the doing better part! :) )

I guess I'm "lucky" in that I like my beef well-cooked with no pink. As I tell those who give me a hard time about it - "well done is done well!" Some of those burgers at dodgy outdoor places can be really frightening. A few months ago, I was at a local festival where Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was playing and due to rushing around to get there, found myself in a line to buy a burger from what had to be the worst place on the site. The burgers were sitting in a dish of water, I think they were precooked so they'd just take 'em from there and throw them on the grill for a few minutes to heat 'em up and dry 'em off. They were topped with some sort of Cheese Whiz gruesomeness and served on a gross, pasty-white bun. For all this, they charged you $4! I was disgusted but had no time to check anywhere else. It was certainly the worst burger that I can remember!
